Anytime you do anything with Latin America I'm on board. I'd love to see you deep dive into either the Mexican Independence or the Mexican Revolution.
I find it funny that America wanted independence to colonise more and more and then they come up with the Monroe doctrine
Did you do Rachel’s challenge assembly at independence HS today
Fun fact about French Guiana: The longest boarder of France is actually with Brazil. Its about 730 km long, which is over 100 km longer that the boarder of France and Spain.
Can you do a reaction to – ‘The British Crusade against slavery’ video? It’s a great video. Lots of great history
it would be an extremely long video but i’d love to see a reaction to hamilton the musical
The parents of Pope Francis emigrated from italy to Argentina. He is more Italian than South American
How did France obtain Louisiana secretly from spain? Did they buy it or just took it?
I never thought about it until now, but I guess other countries never officially recognized the Confederate states as a country.
For all the wrongdoings of the Mexican government at the time, needless to say is who the Texas revolution and the US admision of Texas embodies the oposite of "Freedom".
when is more Eastory, I want you to react to the incredible work he had done with the eastern front.
I say this every time the abolition of slavery in Mexico gets brought up by people.
Vicente Ramon Guerrero who abolished slavery in Mexico was never legally elected in Mexico and was put into power by a coup started by Santa Anna. Guerrero was eventually overthrown himself in 1830 and was executed by firing squad in 1831 while Santa Anna was on the run. He made a personal decree that slavery was illegal but no such law was ever actually recorded or enforced.
Complete and total enforcement and recording of the out law of slavery in Mexico didn't happen until the Mexican Congress (elected after the fall of Santa Anna in 1836) passed the resolution for it's complete banning in 1837. The Texas revolution is fun to blame on Americans infiltrating Texas with their slaves but it's much more nuanced than that.
Just take the 2 figureheads of the revolution, Stephen F Austin was a slave expansionist who believed completely in white supremacy. Sam Houston was a centrist who believed that states should decide if slavery was legal and never owned a slave during his time in Texas. He was even was removed as Texas Governor because he ignored the legislatures vote to secede from the Union.
It seems " curious " to me this guy smiling and justifying when ' USA ' invades Mexico, Spain and Colombia.
"independence fighters" …. he means terrorists
you should do another tier list video soon it’s been a while, maybe “Historian Ranks War movies Pt. 2”? there was a lot of good movies missing from that list and some new movies have come out
I would be really interested in seeing Vlogging Through History look at some of Knowing Better's videos about the "Standard American History Myth". It would be interesting to see his perspective on what KB presents. They are usually pretty long so it would need to be a series.
You should definitely react to the Sons of Liberty short series that the History Channel made in 2015. It’s of course a little dramatized but a seriously intriguing perspective of the events leading up to the American Revolution and honestly gives a lot of credit to unsung revolution heroes.
I'm not sure what triggered this wave of geohistory on YouTube these recent years, but I'd like to credit it all to Bill Wurtz. Hard to imagine other content creators extensively using maps to explain history prior to, and as much as, he did.
Recommendation! The Simple History and Epic History collab about Fernidand Magellan and Francis Drake's first circumnavigation's of the earth!
I don't know if this is something you do but have you ever thought of doing the HISTORY of all the US Territories? Maybe teaming up with one or the other history channels. I am from Puerto Rico and did a history paper about the island for my history minor. So I can help if need it.
If Europe didn't fight against itself during the last 400 years, they might well "own" more than half the globe… whether that would be better or worse than current situation who knows.
