  1. far more practical than the death star because you can actually pull the trigger to make good on your threats without reducing all of a planet's resources to a rapidly expanding cloud of plasma and dust

  2. Refreshers. Or as those who use small camping trailers call them, the shit-shower-shave room. You could relieve yourself and flush, then stand up and shower, and then shave before stepping out to dry yourself.

  3. Torpedo Spheres exist so that Star Wars D6 tabtetop RPG players could, "blow up the Death Star," without causing a lore problem. These are substitute targets, six of them if I recall, that your rebel players can score a huge blow to the Empire by destroying one, but let the movie character of Luke, Han, Chewie, and Wedge (and unnamed Y-wing pilot) get the credit for the actual first Death Star.

Personally, I do not like the art of the version that is a hollow sphere with three rings around it. I prefer the basic egg shaped one because it is a mini-Death Star substitute.

  4. The reason Torpedo Spheres kept getting rammed to be destroyed is bad writing. One is probably good, but then "hey, let's all do it," is just laziness on the writer's part. And ships ramming ships don't always lead to complete destruction, but it's a "cooler effect" than saying the ramming ship is now disabled. Even ships during WW1 and WW2 that rammed other ships weren't always sunk; some limped back home (a few in reverse).

Having stated all that, it would be nice to see these show up in something official for Star Wars, even if they were outdated.

  5. 1:37: That actually has good precedent. During sieges and other bloody battles it was common to threaten devastating consequences if the enemy didn't surrender. Also on pirate raids they frequently did the same thing, to encourage enemy ships to just surrender.

  6. I doubt the Torpedo Sphere has so view torpedoes per tube as a star fighter, as it is not limited to the same degree.
After all, it´s at the size of a capital ship, a very large one, in fact.
So i would expect it to carry AT MINIMUM 20 torpedoes per launcher, possibly even more in case of extended missions.
But that´s just me as i would think when designing one myself.

  7. The torpedoes on starfighters and the big heavy torps used by capital ships are NOT in any way comparable. The torps delivered by a venator or a torpedo sphere are a couple of orders of magnitude more powerful than the ones delivered by star fighters. The star fighters can deliver them with precision and in great numbers and at such close range they are inside the outer shields, but they are not the ship smashing heavy torps of a capital ship.
