Modern's back and it feels amazing!!!!
So what are we thinking is the best twin build at the moment? Ragavan aggro twin? Wizard control twin?
20:26 βyeah I really wish we could double deceiver exarchβ β¦ you literally can? First exarch untap your land?
Wow modern looks fun for the first time ever since i got back into magic
I think you left your balls in your purse
Seth! @ 35:35 you could have forced a win if you cast flame of anor. Cast Flame in response to his Creativity, since Tamiyo is a wizard you get 2 modes use 1 to kill a dwarf token use the other to destroy the treaure token putting him to 1 open mana and since 1 dwarf died he only gets 1 archon and you one discard 1 card leaving you with Twin and Exarch in hard and with only 1 R/G land open I doubt he had interaction for it.
Everyone get hype for Twin Winter baybeee!
This is the biggest downside of these unbannings. We have to endure more MODO.
Glad to see modern back!
Hear me out: fan made format called post-modern. Basically just modern, 8th edition onward and no modern horizons sets are legal. Amazing new format
i googled "worms chant" trying to figure out what card he was talking about
This is the video I've waited a few years to see. Thanks, Saffron!
instead of the fear of missing out would you play a one of coridor monitor? or an additional expressive iteration? or what else would you play?
Weβre so back π
WTF is SLINK INTO STUPOR???
Is there a world where you keep flame of anor and play baral, chief of compliance? Maybe it would be good as a way of improving your interaction while also helping you dig towards the combo
I gotta agree that the deck performed above expectations. Even the 1 match we lost against Archon felt winnable with some graveyard hate, like maybe a Ghost Vacuum or Soul-Guide Lantern.
Better be good. I bought 5 to sell on when it was unbanned.
Yay!
FOMO is much stronger in a decklist with other beater such as DRC and/or Murktides since it does work on its own too.
That was exactly the deck and performance I wanted to see after the unban. Up next: Green Sun's Zenith!
Well, fomo certainly isnt gonna be good in this deck, fomo is kinda best in a GR build of splinter twin.
You play a thassa for the fomo combo of course π
day 9 of asking for darksteel reactor beatdown 2025 edition
Wow turns out Horizons is the problem with modern, who could have possibly guessed that
Ugh. Izzet anything is right up my alley.
If I could splinter twin myself I would WOULD me.
28:28 Why didn't the Flare go back to your hand? I'm missing something. Shouldn't it have?
WotC right about something? In this economy?!?
I don't think GSZ is enough to make toolbox decks good as long as Bowmasters exists. Bowmasters makes x-1s almost unplayable π
Seems like a big issue with twin is not knowing when to twin because you don't know if the opponent has an answer. What if you went into grixis and played thoughtseize so that you can take their answer and then twin, or at the very least know that they have an answer
Ah damn. Im relatively new to magic only playing for about 2 years, so after splinter twins became banned. As soon as a heard it was unbanned i thought of this exact wincon. Seth you beat me to it!!!
DB_Saffron?
While I agree that FOMO is a weak Twin combo piece, I also don't feel your deck was built to take advantage of it. I think what it wants is a deck built around FOMO with some Twin and win value added.
Every video, Seth says "I don't think we go for the win on the earliest possible turn, because the opponent may have an answer," then waits 8 turns to ensure that the opponent definitely has an answer first before going for it.
I'd still love to see a modern format without the Horizons or LotR sets
Yes twin is still good. Definetly not as OP as it used to be but i feel like its very much a viable card still
Harbinger over magus of the moon is wild twin costs 2 red.
"slink" into stupor
Faithless Looting means that every deck is going to need to maindeck graveyard hate.
Will not watch as I hate this mode.
As you said; The combo is far from being the oppresive monster it used to be. Worst case scenario, Splinter becomes a tier 1 as a control deck that low-rolls the combo, and I think that's healthy for the format.
FOMO also… Doesn't have flash, so your opp has way longer to kill it
Blocked also doesn't need indestructible, first strike (and sufficient power) does the job as well
Enjoying him overthink every move and not actually do the thing.
Eldrazi twin has been eating good
Waiting for a Boros Aggro build that just slots in Splinter Twin and Village Bellringer….
UR Wizards using the combo should be good
It's honestly really nice to see how much support the deck got even with just a basic version of the deck. Flames, Flare, Lorien Revealed, Expressive Iteration
