  1. Manual transmission makes you consider speed. It takes consideration to shift into 4th for example if you’re on a back road and the speed limit is 40. Ultimately manual means more control over your car.

  2. Best is no gears shifts. My Tesla does 0 to 200 and even reverse in the same fixed gear. It also has no clutch, the motors are always connected to the wheels, but one motor can be disabled electronically for more efficient two-wheel driving. I do 90% of driving without any hands on the wheel, as the car drives itself.
