  1. The foundation looks pretty interesting, but I don't think it will scratch my base defense itch in it's current implementation. There's a lot of tension provided in base defense, it doesn't "feel right" with this sand box "ask waves to come only when you are ready because hoverbots are polite" system. It's just too chill and doesn't apply enough pressure on the player to make them consider the consequences of their decisions (ie. spending resources/time to build/scavenge whatever).

But I get it, some players wanna sweat and some players wanna chill when playing something.

  2. An outside question – I notice that Wanderbot have played and abandoned the playthrough of Lobotomy Corporation, that is one thing, but did he ever looked at devs next game, Library of Ruina?

  3. Thanks for playing my game! There will be a public playtest this weekend for anyone interested.
Yeah, the explosive bots are a bit much. Originally meant to prevent players from boxing up. I've changed the splash damage to only happen when they are executing their explosion attack, so if attacking a wall when the base is completely boxed up, but if there is an open path it won't destroy your base anymore in the next build.
    Thanks for the feedback.

  4. Blame! Blame! is an amazing manga. Now that you mention it, a game set in a world like that could be amazing, especially if they could pull of the crazy level of vertical layering and drastically different surface/near-surface level. The gravity gun could also present an interesting choice for players: Do you use it and kill whatever enormous monster you're fighting, and everything behind hit, while doing massive environmental damage and risking even more attention, or do you intentionally abstain from using your super weapon and try to deal with it normally.

  5. @Wanderbots Did you read the GameInformer article about Fortnite that came out a couple years before it's release? I remember being really excited because I also thought it was going to be an open world where you gather stuff, pick a place to base out of and defend your home while you get progressively more entrenched and explore further out. I was SO so disappointed with the actual release.

  6. What always confuses me in the lore of these games is that it seems these bots have destroyed whole outposts or the whole population that was there. Yet you as a player alone can fight of hordes of them and they don't pose much of a thread. So either you play as a some kind of superhero or the people who settled there were extremely incompetent and it makes you wonder why they got chosen to be settlers in the first place.

  7. Oh man, that panel description mentioned diagonals. Now I'm picturing two or more long corridors with seemingly random holes in their ceilings. The bots pass through the first corridor, step on a launching trap, fly up into a 45° platform, bounce off and land back in the first corridor.
And of course, a little tower I can climb up to watch this all happen.

Any time an explosion crashes a game, that's a player winning!
