Skyhigh Sundae is the most visually appealing imo
I played the new courses for the first time with my 11- and 7-year old girls, and the on the first lap of Kalimari Desert I was telling them how I used to purposefully drive onto the tracks when I was their age, and I started getting this wave of nostalgia. And then… when the game purposefully steered me onto the track… Oh man, it was magical. Huge shoutout to Nintendo for knocking it right out of the park.
If Nintendo is willing to go back and patch, can they finally go back and return Rainbow Road N64 to its full, five minutes per lap splendor?!
Man I must be an old man now. I see so many people saying the maps look bad but IMO they all look good
Nice to see some people not ragging on SNES Mario Circuit 3. This track is a classic.
waluigi pinball cool but mushroom gorge OH YEAHHH
The one thing I want is more battle stages new and old like the giant 8bit mario arena in the GameCube or the top of a game system also GameCube but in switch style with a new battle mode I don't know but I want to see it
i really wish theyd put longer tracks in. ice cream track couldve been top 10 of all time if it had double the length.
Can't wait for some Double Dash courses in the next couple of waves!
Snow land would have to be South Pole because penguins.
Would I be right in thinking the last track as designed for tour first?
I wholeheartedly agree with Alex's gripes with Sky High Sundae – very disappointing track for me personally
I'm getting tired of Mario kart and the new tracks. I keep seeing people use exploits to get ahead and win instead of actually using items and good racing.
Maybe I just forgot since I havent played MKWii in a few years due to upgrading TV and not getting a converter for the compositive cables, but for some reason Mario Circuit 3 felt like it was scaled slightly bigger than it was on MKWii to me.
I agree with the handrails, it feels great to get the multiple boosts, but I just appears odd.
Love all the tracks apart from the snow one 🖖
26:36–27:05. Sweet Sweet Galaxy (from Super Mario Galaxy (2007) Wii) had Mario on a place full of Sweets, Chocolate and Ice Cream.
I gonna wait until wave 3 or 4 to actually get it
I’m glad that Mario Circuit 3 returned it was one of my favorite tracks on the Wii
Because Wave 2 was waaay better than Wave 1, we’re now gonna expect Wave 3 to blow our minds out of the water.
I think all that’s happened is we’ve lowered our expectations for wave two. ☹️
My only complaint that the levels feel kinda lifeless, with very few toads and stuff in the background
Waluigi Pinball largely unaltered remains one of the best courses they ever made
Sky High Sunday is the best track, FACT
the thing that bothers me about sky high sundae isn't even the fact that the handrails are a boost, but the fact that this is terribly executed. none of you mentioned it, but when you spin after you get the boost, you literally straight up glitch through the rest of the handrails. you can drive straight through it and literally look like you're getting impaled because you're in the pole for some reason. the animation clearly doesn't match up so i'm hoping they'll patch this next wave.
If there isn't Rainbow road and the donkey Kong map from game cube I'll be disappointed
Sky-High Sundae all the way! Sure, there's some shortcomings but the visual aesthetics just ooze with charm. It's my absolute favorite.
I was on the fence with Wave 1, but this may tip the scales into purchasing it (not getting online expansion pass). Not all the new courses are interesting me, but the majority are looking pretty fun.
I never liked Waluigi's Pinball, and I'm not seeing a big change. I'm still miffed that they did cut off fan-made shortcuts from Coconut Mall (like the non-collision parking lot area).
Thinking on it, this, being Nintindo, will probably be planning something big for the last wave. I'm giddy. Big fan favorites?
There are way too many salty people in this comment section😄
For Kalamari Dessert they gave the Tour treatment. (Track Changing every lap)
I actually disagree with so many of Alex’s takes (and that’s okay) but I always let it slide cuz he so charming lol
I like how they made the item box respawn faster but when you play wii or seven it takes forever for them to respawn
I havent bought the dlc yet, but from footage Im incredibly bothered that theres no tire marks in dirt/snow etc in this entire set of new courses
Wave 2 is easily better!
I genuinely think this DLC is purely a placeholder until MK 9. I reckon Nintendo originally planned to release MK 9 on Switch, but once they saw how well MK 8 Deluxe was selling they decided to push it to Switch 2 (why randomly release 9 when 8 Deluxe is not only selling like a brand new mario kart, but is now the best selling MK of all time and growing).
So instead they pivoted to this DLC to keep interest in 8 Deluxe going until MK 9 eventually is released on Switch 2. From that viewpoint it is very easy to overlook some of the rough areas on these DLC tracks – just extra bonus content! I think this also explains how late this DLC came in MK 8 Deluxe life – it didn’t come earlier as it was not the plan.
Another point for this theory – MK 9 would just end the good sales of 8 Deluxe, so it makes so much sense to release as possibly even a launch title for Switch 2. Leaving Switch 1 the only Nintendo console (I think?) to not get an original mario kart. A 10/10 system seller for switch 2, and you get the full sales potential out of 8 Deluxe.
I feel (based on what's been said, not my own experience) that no ones been able to pick up the fact that the Ice cream track can be interpreted as another section of the Rocky Road Galaxy. That galaxy was full of cake while this course is full of ice cream. Could be a colder section of the Rocky Road Galaxy.
I thought the rails in sky high sundae was supposed to be like rails you could grind on like sonic lol. I think they’re really fun even if they don’t look great
from playing mariokark on snes to death, mario circuit 3 has always been the best track, those hairpins work so well with the snes controls, and actually make you drift
It's Mario kart how are is there fucking spoilers.
Go SNES tracks!!!!

Item boxes spawn faster, but you never use your items😤
It's-a me, Marry-oh.
Oh yeah, Marry-oh time.
