Singularity Review

Singularity is a Soviet themed FPS taking clear inspirations from Half Life 2, Bioshock, and other genre staples in Raven Software’s last standalone game before being sent to the Call of Duty mines.

  1. Singularity on GOG – https://gog.la/sovietbioshock

So if you saw the previous upload up for a few moments this video is nearly exactly the same except for some tiny edits I made later (I run upload tests as the video is being made to make sure YouTube doesn't flag anything). Instead the wrong version went public at a weird time, so I deleted it and went to make the other one public…which I noticed was still refusing to process past 480p after being up overnight and the subtitles had vanished out of it. I'll need to restart that fun process so the timings don't break. But since it's already been out I figure it should just be public now. I ended up having to reupload the file which is a lot slower now that I'm no longer on fiber where I'm at.

  2. Yo mandalore, have you ever heard of a game called Lunacid? It is honestly one of my favorites recently. No one I know has ever even heard of it. i think it fits right into the style of games you seem to enjoy. It has wonderful atmosphere and an amazing soundtrack. I'd love for you to play it and even give it a video. I truly think the game deserves WAY more attention than it has gotten. A true hidden gem of a game.

  3. 17:36 you age them and then revert them while they're still aging, which is why they're called Reverts. rather than these two operations canceling each other out, apparently their body just ages in both directions at once, or maybe back and forth and increasingly wrong each time

  4. I would love for you to play Geist, this super weird GameCube FPS/puzzle game where you play as a ghost that can possess different objects—this totally reminded me of it and I bet you’d love it!

  5. 4:07 saw an entire shell casing (with a bullet on the end) flying towards an enemy, another gaming whoopsie. I think a lot of devs have never actually fired a gun, and they assume the whole case runs with the bullet 🤷🏻‍♂️

  6. As a kid I read about Singularity in a GameInformer and thought it seemed awesome, and then a few months later I saw TimeShift in a GameStop and assumed it was the same game I was excited for and bought it.

I played singularity later too, but I kinda like them both about the same amount.

  7. Ah what a gem. I played this game a few years ago as i had just found out about it then and boy did i love it. Abandoned military base? Mutated monsters to kill? Upgradable weapons? Time travel shenanigans? YES PLEASE!
Sure the game didnt do anything original, but the way it combines all the gameplay elements it took from other games is great fun. Especially when you get the upgraded TMD effects, the time bubble and the crazy upgrades for the weapons and you become a time god.
Mandalore complains about the story, but compared to FPS games today, this is god tier story telling. I mean the few shooter games that even HAVE a single player campaign have abysmal writing. This game comes from the golden age of FPS games when single player campaigns were a must and designers and writers actually put some effort into making a good story and interesting level design.
I really miss that age of gaming… Time to put on that TMD and go for another run. THIS time we will make it better!

  8. Look I like your content but, fuck man you gotta throw retard in there? I get the work you put in and I agree with the core of your video but that shit makes me cringe so hard. I'm sure I'll get dogpiled for it but whatever.
