In this episode of Rimworld Anomaly, we continue our 500% Randy Random run on the Sea Ice. The golden cube is still causing trouble, as more and more colonists obsess over it. In the meantime, we accept three guests and are immediately thanked for our efforts with signs of a Metalhorror in our ranks. To make things worse, an almost guaranteed success with a psychic ritual turns into a failure and soon after, into a pack of manhunting animals. At least Elpis can be happy, as he transcends humanity and becomes a sanguophage.

The sea ice is without a doubt Rimworld’s most challenging biome: On these freezing cold ice sheets floating on water, there is no soil for plants to grow, there are no minerals to mine, and there is almost no animal life. Ruins and ancient dangers are also non-existent on the sea ice and even deep drills work differently here, so acquiring even the bare necessities becomes an incredibly difficult task. The sea ice is truly the final boss of Rimworld biomes!
We are continuing this playthrough from a Naked Brutality scenario in Rimworld Ideology and its second chapter in Rimworld Biotech. After obtaining the first two parts of the archonexus map, we select five colonists for the quest to find the third and last piece. As a result, our colonists start with a small amount of items and some starting equipment, but on the sea ice, that is not going to get them far without a good plan and some luck – especially since we are once again playing on Randy Random “Losing is fun difficulty” with the threat scale cranked up to 500%.
With the Rimworld Anomaly DLC, we also see a psychological horror theme added to Rimworld in what is arguably the most unique of the Rimworld expansions. A strange monolith is found on the map and things can soon devolve as horrifying entities appear and threaten the colony in ways never experienced before. In addition, Rimworld Anomaly also adds ways to contain these entities, dark new psychic rituals and a new ending to Rimworld.
Rimworld is a Sci-Fi colony builder simulation game focused on managing a small group of survivors with the goal of eventually building a space ship to escape the planet. Rimworld is developed and published by Ludeon Studios. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the game went through several Alpha and Beta versions before seeing the release of the Rimworld 1.0 version in October 2018. This playthrough uses Rimworld 1.5, the latest update to the game.

Things are getting messy fast – who do you think should lead the Paragons of Pandroth in these trying times? Enjoy 🙂

Why would you want to fix the cube obsession?! The cube is so cool! You should leave it on screen more. Make a whole episode dedicated to showing off how cool the cube is!
Thanks for the vid!
I don't know why… But I have a mental image of maniac being kind of a beast more than a leader, even with all, I'm not sure if it's the best option. Maybe our new and young epic vampire?
In any case…. Aaaaaah I want more episodes😭they're just so good
With a colony this small the Nociosphere will be a problem. Even if you time it right and drop it in a mech raid, it will most likely survive and massacre the colony, unless you take precautions. It can be affected by EMP and psychic stun and should be kept under permanent stunlock when engaged. It has a inferno cannon shot similar to the Diabolus but with just half a second of windup you can't dodge it. it also detonates on death, killing and evaporating almost anything. Please test this beforehand somewhere, otherwise a colony wipe is actually possible.
it would help if you researched the atmospheric heater to warmed up the artic zone
I like the idea of Maniac taking control. Spending all those years playing second fiddle to backwards tribals and then to idiotic goody-two shoes. Now its his time to shine and run things the way they ought to be run.
Like and good video.👍👍
Personally, I would be interested in a generally useless experiment: what happens if you reduce someone's age to 0 or below?
Ellie leading with Maniac advising and Elpis provoking the void. Seems like a match to me.
How's the toxic waste from the mechanoids being handled? Either I missed something or I have forgotten…
Man imagine Thoraya seeing her old man again, this time much younger than before, she'll probably want some of that rejuvenation too i imagine
At 5 minutes you mention that not enough colony wealth prevents the provocation ritual from spawning anomalies. Are you sure about that?
The game already throws advanced anomalies at you. Metalhorrors, the Nociosphere, the cube etc. I don't think colony wealth matters at all.
The void provocation ritual prioritizes new anomalies. It doesn't give you known ones unless there are no possible new ones. And i also think it tries to give you all basic anomalies before even considering advanced anomalies.
You're missing one basic anomaly. One which needs fertile soil to spawn, impossible on the sea ice.
Next time you're on a different tile than your base (raids, ancient complex, …), look out for fertile soil. If there is any, perform the ritual on that tile. Once you got that anomaly out of the way, it should be fixed. ( Pure speculation on my part. Sorry if it is wrong)
Here's my thought process for colony leader. Vulek, still bothered by what transpired at the end of the last season, would pull himself from consideration not wanting to create another sanguaphage "worshiping" society even by accident. Ellie and Elpis would likely defer to "grandpa" Maniac. Selecting Maniac would help him to find that purpose that he's been looking throughout the series. However, Maniac may see himself more as a "military advisor" and protector of Ellie and Elpis. Ellie is the next choice, and would likely be a popular choice amongst the colony. Ellie seems like she is the best fit for the role.
I forget if Elpis is the preacher already? If so Maniac should be leader but otherwise I think Elpis should be leader.
I also vote for Ellie as leader with Maniac as her advisor. Lore-wise, this makes the most sense since Maniac has been through a lot and has also seen the madness of a few leaders.
Another more interesting candidate could be either Elpis or Nazeem, since either of them are touched by the void in one way or another and lore-wise both are also pretty good choices to lead the Paragons.
The cube is perfect
I think we all know who should lead the colony: THE CUBE. IN CUBE WE TRUST. IN CUBE. WE TRUST.
Cube as leader CUBE AS LEADER
Ellie should be leader
get shamblers that be important to handle the orb once it goes crazy
In my opinion Maniac is wiser now then to be a leader. Seen new generation taking over a leading role, giving valuable advise and been in the youth again doing things the right way – that's the character of Maniac. IMHO
I vote Ellie as leader. Maniac should have an important role in the colony, of course, but I don't see him having the patience to be the leader. He seems like he'd rather have a leader tell him who to go shoot and enjoy his wild man lifestyle.
VERY nice use of grenades in that fight against those foxes. I don't believe I've ever seen someone use them so effectively.
Finally, congrats to you and everyone else hitting the goal in the PBI fundraiser!
Maniac has been protecting and presumably grooming the children for leadership. And being young, they have a different view of how the world should work than the veteran Maniac. It's time for the younger generation to lead the colony to the future, towards the void or away from it. I love how the story is panning out so far. The cube provides, the cube is all.
The noci in nociosphere comes from latin word for "hurt" and the c is pronounced with a "s" sound not "k" sound. Just a heads up. Variety of noci- terms are used in medical/biology fields even today.
The whole Rimworld series could just be called "Chronicles of Maniac". If this episode finishes, I opt for Maniac to go on a final adventure by himself. And someone needs to write a book out of the 3 Rimworld challenge series he was part of.
In Elpis we will find the answer if there is such a thing as too much power.
Leader definitely Maniac. He needs some rhinos around though
I honestly thing Ellie should be the leader. Maniac has a lot going for him. But I would definitely see him more as an advisor or something to the leader over being the leader.
Does anyone have the full outro song?
Hi Pete.
YO~! can we get a shout out to that $5,000 raised for PBI? incredible!
CUBE for the leader!
