  1. I'm late to this section so you probably won't see this comment, but I very much disagree that the water animation and nuts & bolts are trivial. I'm someone who plays maybe 1 AAA game a year (if that) and about 50 indie games and another 50 retro games. The market for puzzle platformers especially is saturated and polish (often subconscious to the player) is what separates a decent game from a stand-out game. I truly believe that a player can feel when every aspect of a game has been considered and whether or not it's fair it leads to a sense of care in a project. Nowadays assets can be easily purchased and thrown together with little care and when an aspect of the game seems incongruous with the others it can feel slapped together. Details in games are huge.

  2. I actually would like to know the legal contract part of things. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has had the, "Oh, you can program? Well I have this great idea…" elevator pitch from someone from time to time. And I know a lot of us have also had the freelance question of, "How would I make sure that I get mine?", issue when a lot of us would probably be ok with doing something for someone else but don't want to just give something away and hope the person is kind enough to pay what was agreed upon. There's also the whole, "I want the link in steam to go to my dev profile", issue and the always comforting, "How do I make sure my IP and hard work are safe and mine until the agreed upon transaction is complete?"

So yes… I actually WOULD like a legal contract episode pleaseπŸ™‚. And if you know anything about approaching publishers then maybe a segment about what a standard publisher contract contains so that we know what to look out for(and what they may try to exploit us on).

  3. About the speed increasing. I don't remember if I got this advice from you or from another channel. But the thing is: when adjusting parameters, it's always better to make large adjustments instead of small ones. In this case, instead of increasing the speed from 9 to 11, perhaps it's best to jump to 18 and see how it feels.
It will probably feel too fast, but there's always a chance it still feels slow, and you need to increase it even more.
Maybe you did this when editing the speed, but I wanted to share it just in case.

  4. I actually would want the contract video (maybe not 3 hours, though if thats what would be necessary, then video essay away), because it would be yet more information on the making of games- contracts and legal documents can have long form repurcussions as to how games develop, and it would also allow for a deeper look into the more formal side of things- an intensive "inside baseball" sort of thing, if you were.

  5. Great video, thank you for going into such detail about the process. Jokes aside, I know I couldn't watch a 3 hour video about the legal documents thing, but I'd definitely watch a quick rundown, like a 3 to 10 minute video on it. It's a pretty important part of the process and one where almost nobody has any experience on. I mean, I've signed a few of those, but write them? I get a headache just trying to imagine the process. Did you actually hire a lawyer to help you with the document(s)?

Also, hate to be that guy, but the thumb is looking at the wrong direction in your capsule art, just a tiny nitpick.
