I just made fake pâté de foie gras from a pound of chicken livers and half a pound of butter. Great stuff.
Culver’s has the ButterBurger but this sort of thing sounds more deserving of the name.
I often sous vide my burgers and then sear them afterwards. They turn out fine but… maybe I shouldn’t cook them that way?

Such a neat idea everybody! Can you do one in 6lbs of butter, then 7lbs and then 8lbs? That would be amazing everybody.
you know that burger you cooked in the 5 pounds of butter, it wouldn't HAVE to be so expensive, if you pour the butter through a strainer, then pour into a container and refrigerate it, you could use it 3-4 times and each time the flavor would intensify as it would absorb some of the flavor from the beef fat.

This is a normal thing here in Wisconsin.
Try brown butter ghee (go to brown butter but strain out the solids). Then you can abuse those high temperatures.
Best burger I can remember always enjoying was my mothers homemade burgers. She combined chopped onion with diced green bell pepper and salt and pepper into ground beef. Then she pan cooked them in lard. Butter toasted buns with a little spicy German mustard.
