Fed up of losing ship after ship to a lone destroyer, and possibly annoyed about the Spanish invasion of Formosa the Japanese fleet moves against us. They have numbers. They have similarly sized and priced ships. The designs are even halfway decent! This is going to be a big one.

What a battle at the end, really missed those doom stacks from earlier versions….
Well.. Japan got the "Decisive Battle" they always want, anyway.
Yes, that was a proper fight there! I wasn't too certain how it was going to go at some points, even.
I've been wondering after my latest play session. Is there a way and how hard would it be, to mod the UI, so that the tool tip on the main campaign screen, shows the Shipyard availability and usage, instead of the useless Max shipyard tonnage info?
You can't build bigger ships from a certain point anyway and the into about the available shipyards at a glance would be much better IMHO.
I like the Spanish battleships in battle with the Japanese fleet
For you next playthroigh you should play as America and unite the north and south. With using the most recent tower you have available and waiting for the next one if in reasonable time ie a couple months. If the tower doesn't fit on the base hull you must make it fit, if you physically can't do that, you need a 4000 T destroyer but can only make 3000 T destroyer, then move down one tower. You must also as american doctrine plaster it with "anti air" guns with Chicago pianos, 40 mm bofors, 20 mm if possible, and on bigger ships use 5 inch "dual purpose".
It is very nice to see a major fleet battle in the late game. There seems to be some problem the AI power have in bringing the heat like this.
Now if surrendered ships were taken as prizes instead of counted as sunk.
Kantai kessen indeed…
I'm not entirely sure how you did it, but you managed to sink every single non-17.4" BB (still a threat though!) and left the others last. Bravo xD. Possibly less damage to your ships, though way too much micro needed.
So does this mean that many of your capital ships will scurry off for repairs, reducing your invasion tonnage? If so, the Japanese may have bought some precious time, but the cost may have been too high.
Kantai Kessen fail
"We got the mission to take southern Cambodia again. So we now have Southern Cambodia. We have also taken Cambodia."
17:30 The Japanese seems to have made the Iwami's refit worse
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what the Japanese call a decisive battle.
Probably would have gone better when your battleships keep an open range and having each given a specific target battleship to shoot at, but AI targeting is as always quite fickle.
I have come up with an interesting DD main gun armament. 3x 2-14.2cm / 5.6in using light shells and max barrel length. Try it. With a high Vo this is so cool against DDs, CLs, CAs and transports.
