  1. Love the cupboard of doom! Hacks I use to reduce anxiety: I hated the kitchen due to sister causing fights each night washing up together. Then my husband caused all sorts of problems too. Got therapy for it and now I keep the kitchen clean every day. That’s lead to getting over cleaning other rooms. Currently deep cleaning every room to sell house and it’s gotten rid of the anxiety of a big job. Found myself dancing on the laundry bench when an 80s song came on. I was cleaning the walls at the time and had the freezer and cupboard up against the bench so I didnt’ fall beforehand. Didn’t know I was going to bust a move.

Use a big fluffy flat mop to go over the shower instead of a squeegee as there’s no bending over. It takes 10 seconds and gets rid of most of the water and the exhaust fan takes care of the rest. I pop the mop outside at night to dry. A microfibre mop head would work too.

Prepping part of a job as much as possible like putting bras in the washbag when putting them in the hamper instead of when it’s time to wash. Also vacuum the main area without planning on doing it so I don’t have to do the whole thing later.

Learning to declutter, what my declutter threshold is (and others in the house), taking the thing there now, and putting something back where I’d look first for it. Dana K White’s technique is awesome. Then Cas from Clutterbug analysis of organisational styles is a game changer.

In my new house I’m going to change out cupboards for drawers as much as possible. I want to be able to access every part of the storage with ease. Putting a drawer within a cupboard is double handling and my hands and arms aren’t up to it sometimes and it’s quicker to put stuff away and get out.

Put food scraps in a compostable bag in the freezer to stop smells and only put in the bin on trash day.

  2. Love the tooth past idea.
Micro fiber pollutes our waters, most municipal sewage plants do not filter out small enough to keep the microfibers, micro plastics. Microfibers have been found in the blood of new borne infants.
The coasters don't work with wood counter tops. Wood counter tops around the sink are stupid.
Okay, mixing baking soda and vinegar doesn't do anything but make a "volcano", when an acid and a base are mixed it becomes a salt, baking soda is a base, vinegars an acid.. Just using salt would do as much or more. I

  3. Awesome video and hacks, thank you. Funny story. I’ve been using the hack where you fold the bedding, place everything inside the pillow case and then into the linen closet for years. A couple of years ago I became unexpectedly sick so was taken by ambulance to hospital where I remained for 3 weeks. During this time my husband was left to be a single parent to our 3 kids. When I finally came home I noticed the most odd coloured mix and “not” matched sheets on the beds. My husband must of noticed my look of bewilderment lol and told me that he had to go to a second hand store to buy bedding because he couldn’t find what I had done with ours. I told him that everything was in the linen closet exactly where I always put it. Frustrated he said look all there is is pillow cases but there are no sheets anywhere. So I told him that he had done a great job ensuring the kids had clean bedding but that all the bedding we use for each bed in the house is folded inside the pillow cases. Pretty sure that his mind was blown lol.

  4. I’ve heard that we need to be careful with putting baking soda down the drain; that if we put too much it’s going to cake in the pipes. So I’d think use a smaller amount of baking soda and way more vinegar than what you showed.

  5. Great hacks Kiva. Have to say though I cannot stand microfibre anything, eeeek! The skin on my hands is always dry (for want of a better word) after every hand washing or wiping down. Microfibre and I stick together like Velcro, yuck. I hate that feeling. Otherwise loved all the other hacks. Cheers.

  6. Good call in the microfiber. I use it on my shower door once a week. Squeegee everyday but microfiber once a week. Works great! Did not think to use it on the foggy bathroom mirror ! Great idea! And no chemicals !!

  7. The pillowcase and toothpaste frame hacks are genius! I'm totally adopting these! The one hack I worry about is the microfiber cloths for cleaning. I was shocked to learn that every time we wash synthetic materials (polyester, polyamide, acrylic, nylon, etc.), like microfiber cloths or that polar fleece jacket made of recycled polyester, we're contributing to plastic pollution. "Today scientists estimate that textiles produce 35% of the microplastic pollution in the world’s oceans (in the form of synthetic microfibers), which would make textiles the largest known source of marine microplastic pollution. That’s about 2.2 million tons of microfibers entering the ocean every year." ("Your Laundry Sheds Harmful Microfibers. Here’s What You Can Do About It." by Katie Okamoto, 5 August 2021, NY Times Wirecutter) The microplastic fibers that don't end up in oceans or lakes will typically end up in soils. Plus synthetic materials are made out from non-renewable resources (e.g. crude oil, natural gas). If you're reading this, please do some research and spread the word about how our synthetic clothing and other textiles are HUGE contributors to ocean microplastic pollution. Microfiber cloths are super effective and convenient, but I've found that vinegar solution + reusable cellulose sponge wipes or cotton terry cloth rags work just fine.
