#86 :Avington Trout Fishery Clear Water and Monster Trout

This was a trip I was really looking forward to. Going Back to 2023 the fishery sold and the gossip was that the new owner was going to concentrate on new accommodation and the future of the actual fishing was unsure. I started hearing a few reports of it fishing very well, with a good head of fish and lots of big browns. So I phoned up and had a good chat with the new manager, Tom White who is a great guy with good plans there for the future. So I put together a crew of 8 and we had a cracking day. There were fish everywhere, Rainbows to 10 lbs, and big hard-to-catch browns. We were all very impressed with the work they’ve done so far and I would say the stock level of the fish in the lakes was high.

  1. 130 quid. What was Dever putting it up to that everyone kicked off about? Why is this water better? Genuine question- fished dever a lot, not tried Avignton because it was always more expensive, but this seems to be same ball park as what Dever were taking about?

  2. I was very disappointed on my last visit for £130. Place was a building site, Loud music, no cafe, no tackle, toilets were shut. No mention of any of this when we booked. Fish quality was awful! No fight at all. Filleted out 2 of my fish a parts of the flesh were yellow!

  3. With most things I think you get what you pay for. Most of the fish that get caught on most of these waters are quite a bit bigger than most, and that obviously costs quite a bit. Not to mention all the facilities/upkeep and general stocking. As with everything else its going to go up in price. Stunning fish, beautiful clear water and a nice environment to enjoy with mates!
