  1. You absolutely could run the same formation twice, just most gaming groups and tournaments would limit that.
Also, you should have talked about the most evil of all formations, the Skyhammer. That was absolutely insane.

  2. First time watcher, this video was great and earned a subscribe from me. I was out of the game during 7th Ed cause I couldn’t afford it, and whenever I learn more about 7th Ed rules I have to wonder if the players were just making up their formation rules off the top of their head cause they could get away with it

  3. I'll be honest, 10th kind of just feels like balanced 7th. It feels like all the Detachments are exactly the same as Formations from 7th. You have 1 that's good and you have to take it and you have to take the units it pumps and that's what your entire faction is based around for the rest of the edition. That and the removal of points for wargear… I unironically think I had more "fun" in 7th even when it was an objectively worse game.

  4. 7th edition ruleset is the best ruleset bar none everything after is trash, imagine not having blast templates hahaha
    Just ban formations simple as
The only thing it didn't have but we changed that was hitting on 2s absolutely annoyed the sh it outta me you could be WS 10 VS WS 2 and it's still 3s?! Re tarded with a capital R
Hours heresy Age at least fixed that finally

Anyway 10th is still trash no blast template and wiping entire units because large strength weapon and no saves nar I'll stay in the past

  5. Yes, 7th edition was an absolute clusterfuck…

It is still, by far, my favorite edition. Please Games Workshop, I don't ask for a lot, but I beg of you to bring back my beloved randomly scattering blast templates!

  6. I got in in late 4th edition. In my opinion, 5th edition was best. 7th was just awful. 8th was a necessary revival of the game, 9th gave me migraines after every game, and 10 is, in my opinion, just kinda lackluster and the armies have much less personality.

  7. 7th edition formations were basically just first edition Sigmar, where whoever had the best beard automatically won the combat with one unit and another automatically won if it was raining out. I’m not joking, Sigmar burnt so many bridges and I hated fantasy.

  8. I absolutely LOVED the complexity of 7th. I found its gotten far too simple. I HATE the list building in 10th, but the mechanics…aren't bad. I can deal with how simplified the gameplay has become, if they bring back proper list building. Its absurd asking someone to bring 2k points…and everyone is like… I can make 1990….or 2015… and its that you can only get close, because there is no way to really move 10 or 15 points around anymore. Weapons aren't a choice, upgrades aren't a choice.

  9. HH's 1st edition goes a long way to removing some of the jank. Force org charts instead of formations, Tweaked psychic powers, better army rules / chapter tactics… I had hope in 7th ed that GW was going to force org charts for armies, but then they made the abomination that is nested formations and armies and it went downhill from there.

I do suggest to play 7th edition using HH1's age of darkness book. It should work with any 7th ed book out there, even if you don't break the rules with formations. God Rest Alan Bligh's soul.

  10. The problem with 7th was how nutty the formations got. Some were good… Some got a bit wild. It's a shame, cause the game itself functioned so much better. Hell, it actually had some fun and character to it! Shokk Attak baey-beeee!!

But then we got 9th… And now we've got chess edition where my orks are just guard that can't shoot, wolves or white scars have to use the chaos codex to be played not as ultramarines… Etc.

  11. 7th was the point where 40 went downhill and into a gameplay tailspin. 40k didnt really recover till today.
5th and 6th were pushing the 3rd ed ruleset to its limits and already overstraining it, 7th…..
3rd/4th ed games were quick, easy, no special rule avalance, formations, stratagems etc in the game. you didnt roll 105 dice for a 35 ork shoota mob to hit. the amount of dice you rolled were ALOT more limited (just like in 6th and 7th warhammer fantasy) wich resulted in a much faster gameplay, shorter turns etc.
GW really needs to do a core shift in their ruleset, as the "My Turn, your Turn" system is incredibly dated and they try to patch up and cover up the 1990´s core ruleset with fancy new special rules, detachements, stratagems and other shit.

  12. 9th was way better just for combos and stuff ya could pull off in game everything is now weaker and powers are weaker just meh now unless ya playing eldar which have good powers and combos and it feels like a good game when ya flying around killing stuff not fun for other player who's army is meh

  13. 7th got cleaned up with Horus Heresy and HH 2.0 especially. If they used those rules, keep away from allies, D weapons, supplements, formations and stratagems, streamline the psychic power mechanics, and clean up a couple USR’s here and there, you’d have a great edition I think. 10th just isn’t appealing to me at all, and HH2.0 is the only thing I play right now.

I want to introduce xenos armies to HH2.0, in the name of the Great Crusade. There were good fan rules last edition from Aus30k, I don’t think it would be too hard to adapt.

  15. This has to be the only time I've ever heard someone say 8th is the best edition ever released 😂
It's usually a toss-up between 2nd and 3rd, with 4th and 5th sometimes being part of the debate.

  17. It was so bad 40k players starting to mass joining other games. Many have never come back. Most of the Malifaux group in my area are people who left and refuse to play warhammer again.
