My SoS experiences are limited (70 hours in PoOT, 13 in Doraemon FotGK), but what I really want to see in the next games is a less limited couch co-op mode. FotGK is so limited for Player 2. Player 2 can't access items, can't store or sell things, can't enter buildings, can't talk to people, can't check bulletin boards, can't even ride the horse or use the Locomotion gadget. I'd love for the "bag" to be openable by each player in a smaller panel on the screen (like Kitaria Fables), as well as allowing player 2 to do most everything player 1 can do.
I really hope they work on their character development. I felt like the Pioneers of Olive Town characters were so bland, especially the original love interests.
I really miss rival marriages. It always felt so weird to me that you as the MC marry and then…just no one else does. They all stay alone forever because you didn't marry them. I thought it also had fun scenes for making friends of your rivals and watching them fall in love too.
Honestly with all the great idea that you have, they should've already hire you !!!
I would actually like them to let up on the decorating and focus on story and graphic style. I want areas to explore, the return of a fishing minigame maybe.
Gameplay that changes with seasons (besides just changingthe weather and crops) would be awesome, paired with just more interactive festivals!
I hope the time doesn't move as fast as in Olive Town. I would love a time slider like in Coral island
I want something like 64 with cute country life
HM64 had the best festivals 🙏🏻
I just never want PoOT dialogue again it’s so annoying talking to every character and listening to the same dialogue about a festival for a week before and a week after. Better written characters please
I watched this for fun at the beginning but now I'm taking notes. I've had an idea of "The more you interact with someone without skipping a day, the chances of that someone gifting you increase". That way you can feel like you're not the only person going around and gifting everybody stuffs you found on the ground
But the most interesting part is varying the gameplay on seasons! I love discussions like this
100% need better festivals, in Pioneers most of them were basically just cutscenes
I miss being unable to plant crops in the winter- it kind of gave me a break too. I took that time to focus more on other aspects of the game like cooking, fishing, and improving my relationships with townspeople. Of course, winter mines were pretty great too.
When Spring would come back, i'd be refreshed and ready to get back to farming.
I want the horse race!! It was my favorite festival ❤
I need rival marriage again. I miss playing mach maker for my fellow villagers. Animals getting sick and dying of old age should return for two reasons. One: added difficulty and 2 death is just a fact if life. I remember in Save the Homeland, i had my only chicken die, because i wasn't prepared enough and it shook my child brain. But i made sure i learned from that and didnt make the same mistake with the bext one. i REALLY want animal parade to be remade.
I think they should go above and beyond and add like an x men theme to the game where you unlock hybrid animals in a lab but call it something appropriate like a mixing stone found i. The mine so it doesn’t give crispr vibes . And you can breed dogs like frenchies and bull dogs etc . N u gotta use special food and purified water to have your dog athletic best fit so he can do chores like herd sheep n stuff .
They should make a SoS games for their audience…. Adults 😅
I do wish story of seasons what do a remake of both magical Melody and 64 keeping it with all the festivals & fun
I agree with winter, in SNES, there is a feeling of coldness, aloneness and melancholy which i enjoy. I would love to see how the game can place with pace, its often so generic now. Break up the crop cycle with other gameplay.
A cool fall idea could be a truffle hunting with your pigs. It gives you a unique livestock option and gameplay. Maybe at the start of the forest, in fall a special “pig bell” is installed. You ring it and one of pigs show up. And then you have a puzzle mechanic – like the item finder in the original pokemon games. Friendship with the pig could influence the rarity. There could be a level of items from like poop (your junk ore), to white caps, poison mushroom, shitaki, truffle and gold truffle. Could also include flowers, seeds etc.
I agree that hm/sos doesn’t need to open world. There is a genuine mix-match of gameplay when you have open world (explore, rarely retread the same place) and farming sim (see the same place often, constant retreads).
Also i would love to see marriage and family more than just a visual change
I don't want the next story of seasons game to just be Stardew Valley clones.
If they remake Magical Melody I will have all of my favorite Story of Seasons games on my Steam Deck. Fingers crossed!
I’d love better graphics so it doesn’t look like a mobile game and higher difficulty like animals getting sick. More dialogue interactions would be a plus
I loved the different cultures of the different towns in Trio of Towns, and I would love to see that return 🙂 It made it very exciting. Also, the customisation mode where time stops, to rearrange your farm was really great, and as someone already said, the festivals were really engaging. I didn't mind that there weren't actual caves to go mining, because it's sometimes a bit depressing to be in a cave all the time lol, I prefer hanging around in nature, seeing the trees, rivers, other people. That's why I also love Trio of Towns.
Yes! Definitely agree on pretty much every point. The decorating and designing and so bad in the new ones. Also no crops in winter I miss a lot. I like the idea of including known characters, but typically when they have in the past those characters have little to no interaction with the rest of town. So I hope
They could be more built out
I agree with everything! Especially the festivals. 64 has lots of my fave festivals.
Bring back rival marriages and rival kids
You basically wanna have some of the partner features that were in animal parade. Bringing them along with you , making them help on the farm etc. I would love a animal parade remake. The art style was amazing. Honestly wish i could find art books of the artist.
i really enjoyed watching this vid!! as a long-time HM fan, i pretty much agreed w/ everything you brought up. i haven't been gripped by any of the new entries besides the FoMT remake (hated the new artstyle tho) but my dream remakes are the wii games (bec i never had a wii growing up) and MM and N64!
Biggest wish for me is having character portraits again when you speak with chars, this was such a big turn off in PoOT for me cause the in-game models can only do so much. Also wish for a feature from Trio of Towns which was having a button you can press when nearby chars to auto-talk with them, would make interacting and raising your friendship with everyone more convenient amd smoother gameplay imo.
I am disappointed of A Wonderful Life remake. I was never a big fan of the original game but I did enjoy parts of it, however, they could’ve done so much more with it.
I'd like to see all the older ones remade but the ones that need it the most are the SNES orginal, the game boy ones, Back to Nature/Boy & girl, 64, and Save the Homeland/Hero of Leaf valley but I'd take any remake of the older ones because I missed out on a lot of them as I didnt discover harvest moon until like 2004 and was only able to play A Wonderful Life, STH, BTN, 64, DS, and Friends of Mineral Town and one on the Wii I forgot the name of.
I miss 64 so much definitely my favorite in the series. Would love a remake of that one
I feel like nobody ever talks about Harvest Moon DS 🥲 it was my all time favorite game ever ever ever, it will always have a special place in my heart for the best story and characters … I‘d love to see Magical Melody as well tho! It’s my second fav 🙂
I miss rival marriages and when all the characters were straight. Now that everyone is bi, they have the same dialog with you whether your character is male or female. I’m tired of the female characters flirting with me when I’m just trying to raise their friendship.
I loved the tales of two towns and trio of tons, they could do more towns too 😊
rune factory frontier remake would be banger
I think it would be cool if your spouse could decide to keep their job or help on the farm and then if they kept their jobs you get a little bit of money every day that they work and if they decided to work on the farm they get a skill bars and get a little better at certain tasks each time they do it.
Story of Seasons is shaping up to the be the Pokemon of farming sims. Every game is so different and they pump one out every few years. It's not good.
Hope they also don’t make it a habit to have immortal animals. Let people feel consequences for making mistakes on the farm. It’s a game so it doesn’t need to be completely realistic, but some realism will make people more attached the game.
Damn how did I not see this video already? I figure I'll give my 2 cents in
1) there needs to be better festivals. I'll be saying this a lot but stardew valley has some really great festivals. Like the Halloween one or the moonlight jellies one with that amazing soundtrack. Ones where you can interact and compete like cooking and fireworks festivals where you spend time with somebody are great too
2) I'm sorry but when I learned that the friends of mineral town remake had NO Rival marriages but they kept the scenes in that completely made me not want the game. Then the excuse was Japanese players felt too pressured. Well boo hoo. They could make it so they don't get married till year 3 or 4. Easy fix and you as the player could help with it. Like getting the characters together. More interactivity
3) better looking seasons. Now don't get me wrong, the seasons look good for the most part but in some of the games you can barely tell its a season. Summer time needs to be bright and feel like it's hot out. Fall needs to have every color leaf imaginable (again stardew valley fall looks amazing) and in winter every building should be covered in snow and say if there's a snowstorm there needs to be more snow around
4) something I actually liked in wonderful life was that your child could grow up and have their own life. It's really weird honestly to have kids and be in year 6 or 7 and they're still crawling on the ground. Heck push that even further and have the rivals kids grow up and interact with your child. You could do all sorts of stuff with that
5) I'm honestly a sucker for collectibles. So stuff you can collect (nothing too crazy) like recipes you can make and stuff you can collect would really give people like myself something to go for. You could even do a reward system that gives you one of a kind items for it that helps you on the farm or something
6) it's honestly really frustrating that there's never anything to do once you finish the story if there is one. You just do whatever and that's boring. Almost like a post game type thing that's in rpgs would work
7) have there be a way for us to get to know the villagers/townspeople more. It's frustrating when you see the same dialogue 1000 times. Let us really get to know the people personally. Their personalities their goals their dreams. It would make them feel more personal instead of cookie cutter npcs
8) little bonus one for me personally. I absolutely adore the jobs you can get in stardew valley. You go and get a job on the notice board and not only do you get a reward but some of them (more of this would be fantastic) you get a little cutscene for. Like getting a lot of hardwood for Robin gets you a scene where she actually uses it to build a bed you can buy. Little stuff like that goes a long way to making people want to finish stuff. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. Just a small scene showing you hey I actually did something with what I asked for
