shoutout to @Sweatcicle @RoenB @AllThePlayers @quazz @MoopleLoops @vilefate for helping on this one!

With the final shape raid race coming and at least 18 inches of the witness to battle, you will need to be ready. I have a history of creating raid race stories, but this video will be the first ever raid race preparation video. This one will not be a “best exotics to use” or “build that will convince my wife to leave her boyfriend” video, but instead true advice to get your contest emblem clear and this will be the most evergreen advice you can ask for. I have my experience of raid racing and clearing a lot of day 1’s before this, but now my talents are best used casting for events like raidzone.. Which you should tune in for this Friday June 7th at 9am. Intel is sponsoring, gamersupps too (with my brand new ada 1 shaker GO BUY IT NOW), There is not only emblems for watching, but an emblem for subscribing. The window will be 2 whole days and I will not be getting off really for any of that.. Also we cover the entire worlds first race so that mine as well be my excuse to segway into our first piece of advice.. Oh I also got some worlds first and day 1 raiders who finish near the top to talk out some advice as well, just in case you doubt the credibility of what’s being said. Enough yapping, let’s begin!

  1. My personal advice for day 1 raiding is to do another raid with your group BEFORE the new raid drops. You don’t even need to clear it but you and your team might need time to properly mesh together and learn each other’s callouts and intents.

  2. The thing I learned about raiding and what finally got people to let me raid is be willing to take on any role asked. Doesn't mean you are great at it or it's the most fun, but be flexible. I ran div and will always be willing to run div anytime I'm asked. I never cared about where I stacked up against everyone else regarding damage numbers. I just wanted to be a part of the fun. I'm a Titan main, but have run well warlock and div or tractor more times than I can count. Ego ruins pretty much everything.

  3. I've been playing destiny since destiny 1 I've never done a raid ever cuz the first time I tried lfg it was a terrible experience however I have two friends returning with me and given that this is really the last big DLC (for d2) this is a raid we agreed must be done

  4. Me when ill do contest: look around, see whats going on, trying to understand whats going on, fail to do so, look at streamers to see how they did it, try it for myself, fail again, wait for contenst to end, try it on normal, boom raid clear.

Joking around, i hope to at least clear Salvation's edge on contest, this time around i found a group of people to play together with, and we all got hands and weapons, in fact we all got Godslayer from the Pantheon… I hope we can do it too on Salvation's Edge…

  5. When I teach raids I have one phrase I say frequently. "Hiw dare you not be perfect!" Of course, said with pounds of sarcasm. Breathe. Shake it off. Learn from your mistakes. Keep going.

    Good luck, Guardians!

  6. Aiming for an LFG day one clear. Definitely not worlds first, but I feel like a day one clear is fairly realistic if the people raiding wit you aren’t new to raiding in general.

  7. my advice is take breaks if you feel like your hitting a wall its okay to take breaks like evan said this is going on for 48 hours ik my team is mostly a 5 man because two of our players couldnt get work of for the raid.

  8. I used Osteo striga, Sunshot and Chain of Command MG on my Hunter. I have a tonne of Exotics and Legendarys sitting in my vault I don’t use. Any recommendation for weapons worth trying.

  9. My somewhat pro tip to add to the "Try Things", set up a rule for a few attempts to try stuff. My team does a 5 try rule, we will wipe 5 times trying the new thing, if we don't notice any improvement, its probably not that

  10. First you learn how to survive, then you figure out the mechanics which might cause you to revise point 1, then you tweak your individual and team damages (if there's a dps phase with the boss). The rest is comms,. flexibility, enough stuff to infuse and loooots of skill. And patience.

  11. When figuring out an encounter and you have a strategy that seems to be working stick to that strategy. Refine it and get used to it. Don’t be changing it up after every try. Build that muscle memory so after each fail it gets easier to progress. If you need to change something try to keep it small like a weapon or subclass. (Unless you really need to) do not change positions let people get used to their role instead of swapping positions making people learn something new which wastes time. Find out people’s strength like are they better at solving mechanics, performing them, add clearing, or boss dmg and have them stick to that role they are comfortable with.

  12. 1. Check your ego. I dont care that Titan is your favorite, or that sunshot is your favorite exotic. If its not working, its not working. Be prepared to switch loadouts or entire characters in service of the clear. Failing on your favorite character doesnt feel better than succeeding on your least favorite. Failing with your favorite loadout doesnt feel better than succeeding on the meta you hate playing.
    2. Pay attention to other streamers. If your goal is to get the contest clear, its perfectly fine to look at what others have done/are doing to get through encounters. This is a piece of the ego thing, but dont let the "I wanted to figure it out on my own" get in the way of your team getting the clear.
    3. Monitor burnout and do your best to keep momentum. One of the biggest things that can prevent a clear is having your team burnout due to frustration or losing momentum. Failing at the same encounter over and over for hours is demoralizing and can lead to burnout or frustration. Taking long unscheduled breaks can make you lose motivation. Thats not to say you shouldnt take breaks, but rather that any breaks you take should be agreed upon, and timed. If you say "5 minute break", dont take 20 minutes. Pay attention to frustrations and manage them accordingly.
    4. EVERYONE on your team needs to understand the commitment they are making, and take it seriously. I had one day 1 experience where a teammate randomly said they needed to go get food for their roommates, and they were gone for TWO HOURS. Ive had other teammates leave the fireteam because they had a family member randomly ask them to do a chore. If you want the clear, everyone needs to understand that they are committing to potentially multiple days of attempts, and dozens of hours of play. If they arent ready or able to set aside everything and everyone (emergencies notwithstanding), then its possible you wont get it done.
