Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. It makes the characters more human. No one likes a Mary Sue.
I thought that the bigger consequence of Harry's mistake of saving Pettigrew was that he ended up as the one who revived Voldemort
6 was what saved the wizarding world tbh. If Snape didnt tell half the prophecy to Voldemort (Voldemort wouldnt mark anyone as equal so no chosen one) and ask for Lily to be spared, then Harry would die because Lily can't activate sacrificial protection without being given a chance to stand aside.

The marauders bully Snape . And according to JKR a lot things could change if they never bully Snape and treat him like Remus.
