It’s springtime in the desert, so I decided to see if I could spot any endangered Mojave desert tortoise coming out of their burrows. A viewer tipped me off to a location where I’d be almost certain to see one…so I heeded down south, and found all KINDS of weirdness!

I rescued a Mojave tortoise from the highway. Many have them as pets.
In the pull tab era (lol) I always dropped the pulled tab in the can. You had to be pretty dim to swallow it!
I am here from the future to tell you that you shall find a tortoise when you least expect it in May 2022. 🔮
I would have opted NOT to tamper with a historical item off a fleshly desire to "pull the tab"… the right thing would have been to not even move it to observe it unless you can put it right back into it's same placement… better yet just photograph and don't disturb the artifacts. My honest opinion.
The two times I was in the Mojave Desert 1968 and 1970 was because I was in the United States Marine Corps. We were playing war games and blowing stuff up. It was hot and we didn't see any desert tortoises either. Great video and drone footage.
Don't handle those purple ones. Locally that is referred to as " Scorpion Weed " . It is from the "Heliotrope" family. Many people and dogs have been known to have severe Poison oak like, reactions. ( myself included ! )

We made long chains of pop tops. If you had enough you could make a curtain out of them – a pot-top bead curtain.
