There it is, the clickbaitiest title I’ve ever done.
But I actually deliver, because I care about and Value you.
Too Long Didn’t Watch;
1 – lack of emotional narrative / story.
2 – repetitive quests.
3 – soulless copy/paste cities.
4 – abusing the mass report feature.
5 – banking linked to faction success.
As always thank you to the supporters on Patreon and Twitch who keep the channel going 🙂

I love the farming aspect of this game, to a point where I grab as many town board quests that I need, run in three to four territories gathering materials as well as doing discovery and faction quests, hand them in, craft all I can, unload excess items to the bank and repeat the process. I have yet to go into a dungeon or expedition and I find that one of my problems for I find it hard to find groups running groups these dungeons, I guess I'm still a bit dependant on WoW's group finder, even then I see in chat where tanks and healers are been asked for final bosses due to these classes not been up to the challenge.
I agree with your points, I can definetly see why people have and will get burnt out at or around level 30. The quests are pretty repetative and there's not much story unless you like reading walls of text, and yes Mourningdale and Windsward are practically identical and a couple of others have fairly similar layouts but for me none of this takes me away from the experience.
For me 167hrs in, at level 53, i'm still enjoying myself, between leveling I gather materials for crafting which is a heavy part of the game so not doing it will effect your experience, or I explore the fantastic looking world discovering a few tucked away spots for some amazing views, or I do dungeons, i've done 4 dungeons up to now all of them are very fun even on repeated run throughs and i'm hoping maybe they'll add in a hard mode for these later maybe on a weekly rotation so there will still be a reason to come back to Amrine at level 60.
All in all, i'm not saying the game is perfect cause it's not, there are issues that need resolving ASAP but the game is fun if you take your time and explore. My advice, forget the main questline exists, do your gathering, your crafting, do side quests and just wander, the game may not have great narative but it doesn't mean you can't make one.
It's funny I love playing new world but I have noticed these issues. And they suck to have. The one positive takeaway is that 90% of the issues can be improved on. Just hope they do that before the point of no return
It seems like they started to make a great game, got bored of their own repetitive quests and map design and gave up, maybe the level cap should have been 30 until they added more content to stop the mid game fatigue and grind.
Number 6 :
Piss off Lost Ark fans because of the delay from New World.
I'm still amazed at the amount of negative things I hear and read about this game, yet still 100's of thousands of players login and play every evening. In my book, thats quite the success. To be honest, I think that most people, even the toxic ones, are secretly enjoying it more than they had thought since this is a game from the 'big bad corp Amazon and we all shouldn't like it'.
I'm betting that after a year or 2, seeing how much time and effort has already been put into this game, its probably going to be one of the most played MMO's. I mean, anyone remember the absolute terrible state ESO was in when it launched. With the (still) floaty as fuck combat. Everyone kept calling it was going to fail etc. etc. Nope, did not fail, not by a long shot. Same will probably happen with New World.
Looks like ff14 is keeping those sprouts
It's funny because the mass report thing has been done in WoW PvP too. This is the first thing any group of ruthless PvP players will try to do, so it should be something you expect as a developer.
Its so weird because if you are going to do sandbox there are plenty of good examples of how to do it. Vanilla wow, OSRS, FFXI, and even aspects of Diablo.
if you are going to do repetitive content you at the very least have to have it spaced out with story content in between. In XI I remember that it was sandbox, however to reach certain new areas or end game areas you had to either do the MSQ or SSQ(side story content). I think thats a better variant because it gives players somewhat of a choice. For those that don't care about story they can grind up, run dungeon, raids, or real world mobs of varying rarity and strength.
These kinda concepts somewhat held true with the other mmo's i mentioned too. Also if there are unique items at the end of grind or low rng drops then at the end when you finally get them it feels like you actually accomplished something. Not saying that that is always the best way to do content or anything but just saying that if that is what they were going for then they shouldn't try to reinvent that specific wheel lol.
lvl 30 burnout eh? sounds like dungeon burnout to me. i think alot of people are just expecting a different game tbh. was the same with cyberpunk for me, i was expecting new vegas and got disappointed. but my friends would say, that the game is good
“Every battle is won before it's ever fought.” -Sun Tzu after playing New World and seeing the mass report tactic XD
people get so hype just cause amazons name is on it and are shocked it wasnt the masterpiece they thought itd be
It's also about to get booted out of the spotlight in less than a month when FFXIV: Endwalker comes out.
It looked like the audio was just a tiny bit out of sync here, maybe like advanced by 50ms.
Also, New World is just Amazon's Cash Grab. It's designed just to sell games, with the pretense that it will go on forever like WoW, but actually intended to EOL as soon as they've sold as many as they can until not enough people buy it to justify the maintenance.
Also, the expense doesn't worry them, business expenses just comes off their taxes.
Seeing all the SNAFU happening around New World makes me kinda happy that i skipped this one because i did not like the underlying fantasy …
Try telling people who play runescape they only play it for the memorable quests, RS3 maybe kek
I dislike leveling in WoW but continue to play every new expansion for pvp reasons. This game will die without small scale Instanced pvp.
Level 30 burnout is real. Feels like I've done everything the game has to offer besides dungeons and wars. Wars are locked behind companies and as far as I know dungeons don't have party finder so no thanks.
It's an MMO frankensteined together from the bones of an open world survival game. Between that and Amazon's proven willingness to pull the plug as soon as they hit a speedbump rather than improve, I don't think it'll ever be more than it is.
I don't care what the quest giver names are just like I don't care what the name of the guy who authorizes my salary payments is. I'm not doing the quests because I want that guy's approval. I'm doing them because of the effect they have on my character, the faction standing, and the war progress. I'm more interested in my own personal wandering through the world. The npcs and other players are just distractions. Yeah, Windsward and Mourningdale are the same layout. Little bit different when you actually go into them. A lot of people need to be banned, but there needs to be some form of human control. I've been reporting people for spamming obscenities and nonsense in the new player help channel. I do dislike that my storage isn't linked, but it's not a huge problem. You're right there's basically very little story. It's fine, I'm just leveling and skilling my character how I want and enjoying that. All the pvp kids are off attacking each other and trash talking in global chat which everyone else has learned to disable. I'll be out cutting down trees and decorating my house.
New World is a game I am super enjoying at the moment. Focusing on everything it is always keeping me busy. I do however hope it keeps chugging along and all the issues can be gradually fixed with patches and expansions.
you cannot fix new world, a game where you play as colonialists invading a fantasy america is an unsalvageable idea
Yeah, I had my own little 'epic gamer moment' ala Pyromancer when I got slapped by a bear and chain stunned into oblivion. Was running back when I asked myself out loud "why am I doing this?", then proceeded to have a ten minute conversation with myself about why I care and what the point was. I want to PVP but to do that with any success I have to be max level. Getting to max is painful for someone who isn't having fun with the quest system. Even when I get to endgame what's the point? My guild has a solid hold on our territory and open world PVP is always going to be idiotically one-sided. I haven't been going to wars or invasions because of my level and even then I'm not sure they'll hold my attention for long.
So I logged off and tried Hypixel for the first time in months. Immediately lost ten straight hours building up a minion farm. Can't explain why I had more fun doing that than playing New World, but that's the mental state I ended up in.
basic features like fish log, trasmogs, inspect, clan features klike treasury history, swim animation, weapon/attribute system feels limiting (why no dex and str gems), wish we get daggers or void gauntlet or rune blade (example is the Kings Avatar ep 12 an 14) and many more major bugs. if u just check reddit popular post u can see most issues
Gloria Victis (another mmorpg) has a 3 nation war: when you're in the underdog nation (with least amount of players), the game will give buffs to all players of that faction to make up for the inequality. I think New World should do something similar to incentivize players to join which ever nation they want.
"Souless"… Sounds like Amazon in general.
I think guild wars 2 wvw is better and Pve but
I miss WildStar 🙁
Whatever – I'm enjoying it.
You would think with all the data collection Amazon has on millions of people, they could use that to construct the perfect addicting MMO. 🤨
game will die in few months… no hope
