Slowly but surely, Breeze Airways is working towards becoming one of the best airlines in the US. They’ve still got a ways to go yet, but with the addition of the A220-300 to their fleet, things are looking up.

These airplanes feature a premium seating option which they call the “Nicest” seats. They aren’t kidding. They are pretty nice.

This is a full review of Breeze Airways flight number 116 from Richmond, VA to San Francisco, CA. Total flying time was 5 hours and 15 minutes, I had seat number 5F (one of them fancy “Nicest” seats), and the aircraft registration was N206BZ.

  1. I am a Delta Platinum Medallion who most often goes RIC to SFO. I would definitely pay 343 for this. Cheaper to SFO than Delta main cabin, non stop vs 1 stop, a better seat than Delta first except for the lie flat flights that cost over 1k (and you'll only get the upgrade if you burn a RUC anymore) , and no food on most Delta routings to SFO anyway. The only hard part is I won't get my MQM then.

  2. Another great review Scott. Breeze still has some things to iron out by the looks of it, but that seat looks comfortable and the bathrooms look clean and new. I can't believe they gave out regular sized bags of Chexmix

  3. $372 on premium class on a 2500 mile flight from Richmond to Sodom? Sounds like a good deal to me, food or no food. The seat looks superior to AA, DL or UA's domestic narrowbody premium seat. I always bring my own food on board when I fly on a US airline unless it's on an international widebody flight.

  4. Good videos as usual. You nailed it sanspotter! I love traveling as well although I do it rarely. Last I did it was 2016 to Italy. But I'll be traveling december in about 3 months.
Good video as always and I love your channel 🙂

  5. Nice to see Richmond’s airport featured; I flew in and out of there a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised.

I swear I’m not on the chamber of commerce, but Richmond is a great place to visit. Definitely check it out.

  6. According to MX website, it says that Breeze offers a premium snack for Nicest passengers of flights over 4 hours long. Did the F/A say anything about not serving a better snack? It's still a very good price. They are starting CAK-LAS service (4 & half hours) on Oct. 6th & I'm planning to take the flight in the near future in the Nicest section. Hopefully, the premium snack will be available. It will be nice when they get the entire 80 A220s fleet & have the Nicest seats for a lot more markets. When MX gets through their growing pains, I think it will be a great choice between the ULCC & legacy carriers. I booked a Nicer seat for December CMH-PBI nonstop. My ticket is $109 & includes seat assignment, 1 carryon & 1 free checked bag, more legroom, priority boarding, & snack. When checking fare on DL (whom I like to fly on), that same date & route (through ATL) was $215 (cheapest) for comfort plus & $30 for 1 checked bag. I've never flown a ULCC carrier but understand you pay for basically everything; so by the time you pay for advance seat assignment, checked bag, snack/drink, etc., it can't be much cheaper than a more legroom Nicer fare. This will be my first experience on Breeze & I hope it's a pleasant one.

  7. I recently flew from Nashville to Hartford on Breeze. They have some of the most enthusiastic flight attendants I’ve met and I loved the conversations! I was lucky enough to see two on both flights! Hi A, if you see this!

Unfortunately, Breeze ordered the A220 without lavatory windows, so no loo with a view.

  8. Flew this route back I august. We experienced the delays…they told me through Facebook (the only way you can correspond with the company) that they ran out of A220 pilots due to callouts and had to shift crews around. The flight was delayed 4:30 hrs out of Tampa the morning of our flight which caused a delay for the entire day. Fortunately they let us know the night before.

The aircrew was extremely apologetic and were amazing. My wife and my daughter sat in the nicest seat and they had a very comfortable flight, got a good laugh out of the in flight meal. We came prepared though. I sat in the nicer seat and got a water and kind bar.

Overall I was pleased with the experience. They are a new company so I can sort of expect there to be hiccups. As a military member whose wife and my family are both in the east coast, this is a great cheap option for our family.

Also they don’t have in flight entertainment, but they did tell us before we got on the plane that we should download movies books, music etc.

  9. I feel like smaller snacks with options to pick a few would feel like you got more like jet blue used to do ironically when the person who’s running breeze ran it 🧐 how is he forgetting his own best decisions. The large chairs on jetblue used to be so nice and the level of choice and entertainment was groundbreaking for us air travel at the time with so much competition in the market still! Breeze should be what jetblue was when it started comfortable seats for all and for first you should get a few snacks or a meal and for economy if they want to go with one snack bag I think that’s fine but for the premium you paid I’d expect multiple drinks and options (not even alcoholic but I mean maybe that’s what they need 🤷‍♂️) or they could be the first airline to serve/ sell coffee beverages they could easily train staff and have a nepresso machine thing. They just feel very generic not “the nicest” like their marketing suggests. The bar is SO LOW for domestic air travel they easily could be the best like jetblue used to be known as in its early days! A loyal customer base is virtually a thing of the past unless you have miles and status, no one is going to an airline for service anymore because they all are the same level of disappointment in the us.

  10. That seat looks perfectly fine to me. I would happily fly across America in that seat. Is the $342 ticket the full price or the price to upgrade to Business? If the later that would be a ripoff but I suspect that is the full price which is a good price IMO.

In Europe "domestic" business class on a narrow body aircraft just has standard economy seats with the center seat blocked out.

It looks like Breeze is trying to stay a low cost carrier while offering more comfortable seating up front so in other words a hybrid airline. Not full service but not bare bones. With the newest and nicest (and best looking) aircraft in the market – the A220 – they should do well. The founder of Breeze also founded Jet Blue – WestJet and a popular South American airline (the name escapes me now) so he has a good track record.

As for the Air Canada livery I agree they have one of the nicest in the industry but it is not that minty colored plane at the gate beside you it's a new livery with a black bandit mask. AC has an all new livery and their A220's are better equipped inside with backseat IFE's and full meal service in business although I doubt you can get a seat for $342 but still worth checking out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2fYa9jTfDg

  11. I agree that Breeze has a very unique, striking livery, and the A220 is already a good looking airplane. I got some great shots of this very aircraft, N206BZ, as she was landing at SDF not too long ago

  12. I've heard Breeze is discussing real food options and ovens in the A220. However you mentioned it in your review, you paid an AMAZING price for a transcon, premium seat. With that amazing price, there may be a subtraction or two, including hot food. In addition, it adds to the workload of a Flight Attendant and weight of an airplane. I bet they will want to work out all the kinks like you mentioned before they start any additional service. Great video. I've wanted to fly the A220 for a long time and hopefully I will get a chance soon.

  13. First time watching your video. Very nice. I must say that definitely was a steal of a deal as I paid more than that to go from DC to Florida this summer on economy. I do love the livery and the seat looks comfortable. Love the way they incorporated tablet or phone holders on the seat and tray table – genius.

  14. One thing that I didn’t hear mentioned was the nicest seat also comes with 2 free checked bags, a free carry on bag, and a personal bag. That alone is around $120 in savings (give or take depending on flight route) so it definitely seems worth it to me. Hoping to try it out next year and look forward to the next video

  15. I would not complain about that seat, cross country for $372. From RDU to SFO on United is almost $600 in economy. $2000 business and $2500 for first. United economy seats are tight.
