  1. I do like Digimon World 3 as that help make it more of an RPG rather than a virtual pet simulator. The story does need some work with its gameplay and story. I also liked Metabots, too, but I first played the game through emulation which makes me want to play it in the past on my GBA.

  2. I really want Bandai to give us a proper remake of Digimon world 3 to update the 3D battles, add some QOL features and add some new Digimon especially those that are evolutions to the ones that are in the game

  3. I don't feel that save to download this games from everywhere, but there are some nice picks from the looks of it. I played Digimon World 3 once, kinda hated the evolutions for some reason back then.
Not sure what phase I was in back then, but I was annoyed that they had no clear evolution and could kinda transform into anything , maybe that somehow broke the immersion for me.
or gave them less personality or something. I just tried to remember the reason right now.

  4. DW3 has the best story and plotline…but the evolution line is a mess…also koe/monmon and kotemon doesnt have clear evolution.but with new digimon update in reference book i match them as my own cannon digiline…

  5. i don't get into DW3.. i tried it when it came out totally happy to get a Pokemon like game on PSX and even then the battles were to slow for me. I recently played it again and NO even with speed up 🙁

  6. Gonna go against the grain as someone who played Digimon World 3 as a kid and tried to go back and look at it without the nostalgia, it's kinda meh honestly. All Digimon reach all the same end game evolutions eventually, making it moot to get the extra Digimon, and having each Digimon go out in 1v1 battles felt like a step backwards as a JRPG for the time in combat compared to Digimon World 2's combat.

  7. Digimon World 3 is deffo a fave of mine! As far as games not mentioned here, I also occasionally like to replay Jade Cocoon 2 for PS2- the battle system is kinda similar to Yo-kai Watch, where you have a rotating set of monsters that kinda do their own thing. You have to strategically rotate to different elements and stuff for their different abilities- fire is generally attacks/big damage, water is generally healing, earth is guarding/buffs, and wind is debuffs and status effects. It takes some getting used to, and the voice acting's kinda goofy, but it's a pretty solid title in its own right. That said, don't go in expecting it to be like Jade Cocoon 1. It's different in a lot of ways- like overall tone and such, this one's kinda geared more towards kids… and sadly they did away with the monsters looking visually different when you merge them. On the bright side though, no more awkward resident evil 1 tank controls for the player character!

  8. DW3 was one of my favorites besides rhe fsvt that I had a scratched disk and couldn't make it past the first Inn… would just load maps eith the tiles over it so I had ultimates in the starting grass/beach area 😂 finally played an emulator and loved it… it froze at the beginning of the final boss battle and corrupted… still one of my favs even if I'll never be able to finish 😭

  9. Correction: There IS a creature collecting aspect in Digimon Story: Lost Evolution. You can scan digimon at the start of a battle. Then, later convert into digi eggs at the Digi Farm. You can store these extra digimon at a sort of Monster Rancher styled area called the Digi Lab. There, you can raise your digimon sort of like the tamagotchi vpet systems.

  10. world 3 was pretty bad on ps1 because of the load time, took ages to get in battle and poor frame rate made it unbearable for me. world 1 though, always has that special charm, even doe clunky, it has it own quirks, being able to figure digivolutions out at the era where information is not so readily available was it own reward

  11. Throwing it out there but Eternal Eyes for PSX is a hidden gem (for me) and I’d recommend others to check it out. It’s a SRPG, sorta like FF:Tactics and the like for reference.

The Mon-aspect comes from using and combining various jewel-types (ie. Holy, Power, Wisdom, etc) on puppets, creating various creatures + teaching them different skills and stat upgrades based on the jewels you apply to them ++ you have to stack jewels in particular orders to evolve them into more powerful mons.
And if your puppet falls in battle, you gotta start all the way back from a base form, so there’s a sense of urgency to keep them safe + strong.

It’s a bit clunky and dated (ie. a bit grind heavy, some difficulty spikes, occasional wonky translation, etc) but it has a very big soft spot for me and it’d be cool for others to maybe check it out too.

  12. Abandonware is technically illegal. Trademark only covers branding, so in this case if cosmic soldier trademark was up I could release a game called cosmic soldier. In this case it's the copyright, Japan has a 70 from publication date. This would mean cosmic soldier will not be available to download without permission of the rights holders (typically gained by buying it) until 2055.
Abandonware sites fly under the radar by only posting things that the rights holders truly do not care about (and thus are not likely to take any action) or things where the rights holder is potentially completely unknown (can't be sued by the rights holder if no one knows whom holds the rights).
