48hr Layover in Dubai

The first stop on our journey around the world. Dubai is the worlds busiest transit hub making it the perfect place for a 2 day layover.

In this episode we explore the historic and cultural side of this sprawling metropolis including its origins, trade history, souks and crossing the creek to browse its famous spice markets.

The following day we check out the modern marvels this city’s name is synonymous with. We explore the Atlantis Aquaventure park, one of the biggest water parks in the world and a world record holder for number of slides in any park.

After our adrenaline pumping action we explore the Atlantis Lost Chambers Aquarium which is one of the most spectacular aquariums in the world!

After an amazing sunset on the Persian Gulf we finish our journey by taking in the wonder of the man made palm island from above, along with Dubai’s iconic skyline at night.

Ibn Battuta Gate Mall 2:00

After almost 5hrs of delays and almost missing a connecting flight ✈️ we finally arrived early and tired in Dubai. We checked in to our accommodation at the stunning Oaks Ibn Battuta Gate and headed across to the Battuta Mall while we waited for our room to be prepared. The mall claims to be the largest themed mall in the world with sections dedicated to Andalusian, Egyptian, Persian, Indian and Chinese Cultures.

Old Dubai and Spice Souks 5:28

We headed out to Al Seef in Bur Dubai. We had pre booked a Dubai guide which turned out to be fantastic, teaching us the history and culture of the city. Starting with the Old City πŸ™ before catching an Abra (boat) across the Dubai Creek to the Spice Souk in Deira Dubai.

Atlantis Aquaventure 12:44

An epic and action packed day. After boarding the Monorail 🚝 on the Palm island Jumeirah 🏝 we entered the world famous Atlantis Resort πŸ”±. We spent the day at Atlantis Aquaventure water park, one of the worlds largest waterpark πŸ’¦, with 105 slides πŸ› and numerous attractions it was the perfect way to spend the day in the 45 degree C heat β˜€οΈ πŸ₯΅

Atlantis Lost Chambers 19:56

Set in the mythology of Atlantis, this aquarium is one of the worlds largest. With 11 billion litres of water, 250 marine species and 65,000 individual creatures. To say this is Impressive is really an understatement.

After sunset over the Persian gulf we venture up to the viewpoint at Nakheel Mall for a magnificent view of the palm island and Dubai City πŸŒƒ from above!
