  1. MP4 very few choice and 8 Bit so that's not an option really. Yea the audio modifier works. I'll bet there is a way and we'll figure it out. Of course if you don't need any audio you can just drag in the video track from the project window.

  2. Appreciate the work you are doing on the GH6. I ran into the same thing. I'm on Resolve but what I do is change the format not only to two channels but change it to one stereo track instead of two mono tracks. That cleans up the files / timeline even more and makes it easier to intercut footage with steroe audio from other sources on the same tracks if need be. But I agree it is a very questionable behaviour of the GH6 to always record 4 mono tracks even when there are no sources connected that could record to tracks 3 and 4. Would be nice to be able to have a setting in the software to switch between 2 channels on one stereo track and 4 channels on 4 mono tracks for example.

  3. When I record audio using the internal mic(s), my .mov 4K videos end up with just a single monaural audio channel. In other words, I don't get a stereo as I would expect. However, if I make the sound level meter visible, I can see that the left and right channels are indeed separate. Someone speaking to the left of the camera will cause the left channel to jump higher, and same for the right. So the level meter seems to be showing a stereo signal. So what's up with this? Why do my videos contain just a single channel? Is anyone else able to record stereo using the GH6's internal mic or mics?

BTW, when I load a clip into FCPX, I only see one channel. Not two and not four. Very weird. Probably some kind of software glitch. I also tried opening the video in Izotope RX, which automatically extracts the audio … and it is single-channel monaural there as well. Furthermore, when monitoring using headphones plugged into the GH6, I hear a monaural signal. I trust someone has informed Panasonic about this problem.

  4. I have to think this is an overlooked 'glitch' by Panasonic. I have the XLR-1 adapter and when you choose to turn off 4 channel audio from the top audio button on the camera…there should NOT be 4 channels (2 empty from the internal mics) showing up on the editing timeline. Why have the option to turn off 4 channel recording otherwise?

  5. Hi James! No clue about how to record just two channels insted of 4 always right? Very weird and annoying haha. I am trying to make proxies with some clips (in the H264 preset) and it doesnΒ΄t allow me. I think itΒ΄s because of the 4 channels… Thanks again!
