  1. I think the Monster hunter team could absolutely do a great story for a MH game but they just never focused on it because they wanted to nail the gameplay whilst experimenting a little, story just wasnt in the cards for the older games.

Now however after world they probably have way more funds to do stuff so they could delve deeper into the story which it kinda seems like they did with Rise and World by introducing these characters, voice lines and cutscenes. Especially the fatalis and alatreon bits. I really hope they do in the future games because im a sucker for more immersion and worldbuilding

  2. I wanna see us be able to set up a bit larger scale camps, one per biome maybe, that we can populate a bit by recruiting npcs of the mini factions in the guild (like research division, hunters, flora, etc), which works similar to the Palico safaris, in that each base you set up can be designated to perform certain tasks while you are out and about.

    Could work something like:

Researchers – Allows baiting of specific monsters (similar to GL) / or could deal with maybe endemic life marking and tracking.

Hunters – Can paintball, or “corner” monsters for you to come back and grab whenever.

Ecology / flora, could over time gather plants of the area.

Smithy – allows armor craft / upgrading at location.

That’s kinda the thing I want to see, and allow us to maybe customize the base a good bit, aswell as it’s location, so it’s worth running to them, since hopefully, they don’t have a fast travel.

Other neat things could be like, maybe upgrading your base for defense raids (like rise), or transportation methods, like a ground vent shooting air out to launch the drake your riding high in the sky to get a good gliding start.

  3. Tis funny how gaijin is against ancient civilization stuff yet the switch axe and charge blade where discovered by the guild from ancient blue prints i think the ancient civilization stuff should be like bplot stuff things we discover alongaide hunting the big threat

  4. If they bring back switchskills so we can change our movesets then some moves should utility that other moves don't have like X move can apply KO or X move can be chained on downed monsters for big damage or X move applies more elemental damage.

  5. Here's my arguments for RNG Decos and manually built Charms.

    – A bad deco roll is only one slot worth of skills, while a bad charm roll is, even under the older system, at least 2 bad slots, obviously even more so 5 or 6 or 8 bad slots in Rise.

    – Craftable decos already require RNG drops for the right monster parts to make in the first place. Crafted Charms do take monster parts to upgrade as well, but much less materials overall to get the fully upgraded charm for that skill.

The ideal execution for me would be semi RNG decos with weight toward the kind of monster you hunt. For example, Tigrex might yield more Earplug decos, while Rathalos hunts will be more likely to get you attack up and fire attack decos.

  6. I wonder if the lightning towers are player placed in the same way Death Stranding has player placed items to help traversal. Would be cool as an always online title to utilize that fact for features like this

  7. As an alt-oholic in wow and someone who plays all the weapons in MH, if they don't bring switch skills back I might not pick up Wilds. The diverse gameplay is far more important to me than getting the best times or following any meta. Doing the same hunt over and over to shave seconds off or limiting myself to very specific skills and combos because someone else has the best results with that same set is just not my cup of tea. The game is huge and diverse with the ways you can play. That's why there is like 100+ armor set slots

  8. Thanks for addressing my question! I'm glad to know more folks share my sentiment of the 4 man contents on FFXIV. Somehow I am reading very bad opinions of it online but personally I enjoy criterion dungeons a lot.

  9. It's about the journey not the destination. That is why we DONT want fast travel. Because it takes away the journey. Wilds should put massive focus on preparation and the journey. We should have to prepare for a journey as much as we prepare for the monsters.

  10. Oh, so it's the Minayle thirst why people are so adamant against her being Little Miss Forge. Finally I understand, because it's been weird looking at people deny all the evidence presented to them. Literally everything from her backstory to motivation to the stories she tells in Sunbreak about her journeys to her clothes and the color of her eyes match. The only difference is the color of her hair and I don't think hair dyes are that much of a stretch in a world with actual alchemy.

  11. There was a pseudo guild conspiracy on IceBorn with how the guild was destroying any information about Alatreon. The story was not as sht as Gajin makes it be.

Also Gajin was thinking about other games when talking about the Ancient civilization… We have high electrical charge bugs, and plants that can cure diseases. Creatures that can terraform the lands and produce fire, ice, water, electricity and dragon element. Hunters with tiny knifes that can produce the same elemental energy monsters can. Why would it be weird or disconnected from MH that ancient people manage to harvest that energy for their benefit. He is thinking Horizon, Final Fantasy and that garbage life action movie and I'm here thinking Wyverians and the Equal Dragon weapon.

  12. I agree with Ruri, I believe limiting the usage of Fast Travel or Teleportation would enhance the gaming experience. It would be beneficial to restrict the number of fast travel spots/camps available and introduce a cooldown system to prevent spamming. I guess this will encourages players to rely more on mounts and engage in exploration, contributing to a richer and more immersive gameplay experience.

Furthermore, I wish for a return to the concept of limited supplies at our camp. Encouraging exploration of the map would become advantageous as it allows players to gather materials that can be utilized for hunting.

Finally, I'd like to see the reintroduction of skills tailored for party hunting dynamics. Skills such as Speed Setup and Perceive could greatly enhance cooperative play. Emphasizing specialization within parties, with some members focusing on trap usage and monster capture, would contribute to a more diversified and team-oriented hunting experience.

  13. Everytime Ruri starts talking about his mount movement wants, he reminds me of clients who don’t know what they want until they see it and are just not satisfied until they see it. But they won’t tell you want they want explicitly cuz they don’t know what they want 💀 thank god Gaijin is checking his takes.

  14. All of MH4U was you being a secret agent for the guild. Investigating Gore Magala and Shagaru was all kept secret to avoid panic. The kushala wasnt all that secret, but the seregios and apex monsters were. And then in G Rank you decoded all those secret scrolls.

  15. Transmog should be unlockable upon beating Low Rank, and it not being obtuse as hell like MHGU with them tickets. Just let us craft the armor and it unlocks the transmog variant-like a certain mod in Rise-and we as players still get a sense of progression of getting it upon hitting Master Rank as MHGU’s implementation is dumb when you’re beyond end game at that point.

There is a mod for followers to scale as players or even higher, plus up to four of them. They could have it as an accessibility option like Final Fantasy XVI where followers don’t scale monster difficulty so that the game is easier, but not by default.

  16. Stitching together 2 ideas, a turn based Monster Hunter would be a great way to explore the history and corruption in the Guild. Party members for each weapon, palico assists you find and equip, and of course a focused story that drives a good rpg. Could even fight other hunters/poachers along with the normal beasties.

  17. I feel like Sunbreak is a spiritual successor to Frontier. Also to comment on Gaijin's point about the armor skills, even uf they brought the old system back everyone would wear the same stuff after someone optimized a gear set. That's just how it is.

  18. I like Gaijin’s idea! But what if you help the mount hunt for smaller monsters? A system where you need to worry about the mounts stamina as well as yours could be a really interesting mechanic!

  19. For the last time ruri followers Don't do any dmg! Your pets do more dmg than your followers. The only thing followers do is give you more buffs(hunting horn) and serves as distractions or get free rides.

  21. For this particular matter, I disagree with Gaijin… I really wish Elder's existence in the map will cause changes in weather! I mean, they're walking/living calamities! Imagine when you hunting a Rath, then suddenly the sky goes dark and stormy as hell…voile, Kushala Daora invade your quest!

  22. the mount and fast travel talk makes me think of Red Dead Redemption II, I hardly ever fast travel in that game. and the horse is not even that fast. the world is just fun to traverse.
so the answer I think may not lie in making the mount/traveling fast or convenient, but to make the world interesting and engaging.
