While itch.io is known these days as the place where one can create anything and everything gaming for the world to see, there werenβt many places so free nor accessible in the 90sβ¦ but the 3DO was one of them, and my god did we get some beautiful, bizarre, unhinged, and amazing art out of it β especially overseas! So join me on a guided tour through a wonderful, forgotten realm, as we explore the incredible world of the 3DO in Japan!

A quick note: for this video, I attempted to automate things with the Patreon text scroll by using the patron list export function so I could copy past names, but unfortunately sorting this is… not very easy, and I ended up missing some names. This includes 'Vaporwave Vibes' as well as 'irre' – I'm very sorry for that to both of you!
If your name is missing, please note that I didn't forget about you, and for future videos I'll be going back to adding names by hand rather than relying on the list. It's entirely my mistake that this happened.
Thank you so much for this video. I learned a lot! Very surprising to see that the 3DO had a certain degree of success in Japan.
this is the first video ive seen from u just from searching 3DO out of curiosity,, immediate sub!!!! so interesting and the ending message gave me chills :') gonna binge watch ur other vids RN!!!!
first time watching the channel, love the theme but the production and narration is just very very good, thanks for the video!
00:14 amog us
Thanks you can't wait for the your next video
Love hearing about super obscure games, great video!
I just discovered you from this video a couple days ago and i've been binging your videos all day everyday, I feel so lucky to discover someone who is so passionate about PC98 games and older eroge, theyre something that im very passionate about and i try to play any english ones i can find and deeply wish i could play the untranslated ones. watching your videos scratches that deep itch to learn about the games i cant play and i love your personality and your tastes!! I'm really happy to have discovered you
I saw a 3DO at a thrift store a year ago, and every time I hear about the 3DO now, I kick myself to hell. π
I love the video, the topic and all the cozyness of reviewing old and charming machines and games BUT (or rather, and)
Dohna Dohna jumpscare got me hard
Edit: I just noticed how bas this sounds 3 seconds after posting it.
I'd look into the Japanese version of The Sega Saturn. It has a similar vibe of weird ass indie games
Net Yaroze for the PS1 had a similar vibe, it was a dev kit for hobbyists
just as a fun fact, did you know that fairy tale obscure anime you mentioned that was available to be bough and played on 3do is actually super popular ok latam?? dunno if all over latin american but in my country it was dubbed and to this day plays on most local networks during the mornings along with the other kids tv shows.
give us the princess maker review
I wish I knew about this platform back in the day. These are the kind of games I enjoy discovering especially back then at the time
Really fascinating! Thankyou for transporting and guiding us through this wondrously niche corner of the gaming world!
You had me at Ultraman Powered on the 3DO.
One of the things that I kind of want for 3DO emulation is the ability to overclock the GPU (suchas it is a GPU at all) to play something like Dr Hauzer at 60 FPS. Lol
Maybe i should get my own 3DOβ¦
I just started but I hope this talks about some of the wacky ass 3do magazine covers. They are fantastic.
Edit- you did not , but its a great video
Love your videos!!
I love the archive of unusual pieces of art I will never get to experience. Thank you.
As much as youtube can be a puritanical toilet fire sometimes, the Almighty Algorithm put this video directly in my face upon opening the app this morning, so I have to admit maybe sometimes it knows its shit. It's nice to know there's another fun deep dive narrative about the 3DO other than another retread of "Becky really champed it out to make Doom" (not that there's anything wrong with that! She owns!)
Please make a video on furries co-opting gamefaqs. Thatβs completely my thing.
This is a cool ass video, definitely keeping an eye on your channel.
I love how older consoles had some truly niche and bizzare titles. But this? This is on another level, and I LOVE it! Absolutely fascinating.
Ps: fist time here, instant sub. β€
