We did the ibuski sand bath in February this year as a result of your videos John. Was great fun. We also went on a cool special sightseeing train from Kagoshima to ibuski – great experience 😊
ohhh small correction about that guy on the bicycle in front of the photographers. The photographers were outside of his workplace. He did it intentionally because he was so sick of them blocking his entrance every day. It was so funny!!!
Oh its heaven for Instagramers! They could pose on each ART and take pics and could take them a whole day of fun in the sun. Promote Tourism! Just make sure there's a cafe nearby so they can quench their thirst 😅
I was in Kagoshima just a week ago, didn't go to Makurazaki but Kagoshima is a nice city. Even got to see a Sakurajima eruption. Kyushu is such a scenic part of Japan but seems to be largely missed by western tourists. I did travel on the Ibusuki no Tamatebako special train which is a really nice way to travel to Ibuski.
Did they have any Pokémon things there? Or Pokémon manhole lid? Just curious. John. I'm a big Pokémon fan especially Pikachu but I love other the Pokémon characters.

I visited Ibusuki in ''08, a local friend showed me Nishi-Ōyama Station (the 'southernmost' JR Station in Japan) that you show at 5:40, but little did I know that this end-of-the-line location was just a handful of stops down the line. I've always wanted to return to climb Kaimon-dake & explore some more.
I had to look up the guy who interrupted the train pic and the reaction of the people taking the pics was crazy! I had never heard about it and I got good laugh out of it 🙂

Sad that there's not more frequent rail service in these towns. Not really any better than Southern Italy. Is there more frequent bus service?

Mt Kaimon last erupted in 885 so not really a threat at the moment.
