You can find a lot of information out there, I ran across a really nice breakdown video once here on Youtube, it's based off of a graphic novel and with that.. much of it's not factual. Just have to enjoy it for what it is as an entertaining movie.

The Spartans were the most pro-woman society since the Amazon's. Because all the men were constantly running off and getting killed by flights of fancy, the woman were the ones who ran the society. It wasn't the King who mattered, he was supposed to run off and get killed after having as many kids as possible, it was his wife who controlled the votes, the slaves, and the money. It got so bad that Sparta was stopped from being invaded because then the women from the other states might start getting ideas about voting and money.

The Spartans were so poetic in such a brutal way. I love the tale of the king who sent a message to Sparta saying "If my army gets through, we will kill kill kill etc etc etc" and the Spartan kings reply was simply "If"

I saw one trailer of this movie and I was in. I watched this movie in IMAX and absolutely loved it. It is one of my favorite movies both visually and the writing. I have a replica Spartan helmet and an Immortal mask because of this movie.

The immortals aren't supernatural, but they were real. They were called such becasue there were 10,000 of them exactly. Whenev r on died, they would be immediately replaced so their squad never seem to lose any soldier giving them a kind of myth like presence
