On the day the sports news reported how the Raiders were moving to Las Vegas, I thought of that one quote from "The Simpsons" Season 10 episode "Sunday, Cruddy Sunday":
"…AND THAT THE WANDERING OAKLAND RAIDERS MAY SOMEDAY FIND A HOME. LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER. CAN I GET AN AMEN TO THAT?"
Well, now it certainly seems like they have, in a city ripe with various kinds of casinos, theater shows, and restaurants. What can they do to stand out? The "Black Hole" nickname really sticks well with them, but the silver can't be ignored. No other sports team on Earth makes those 2 colors work so well; a few subtle modifications of the uniforms would be nice, but not at the expense of their overall appearance.
Common consensus for decades was the opinion of how an NFL franchise in southern Nevada was a far-fetched idea. Looks like the naysayers are going to be wrong, as Raider Nation has some conflicting emotions about leaving Oakland, CA but are still supporting the team one state over.
The spotlight looms large for Allegiant Stadium, with Super Bowl LVIII on the calendar in 2024.
This was yet another jackpot of neat content for 30 in 30 #28. Whew, finding the right words to say is making me thirsty. I'm going to the refrigeraider for a root beer.
