We sent interior designers Laura Hodges, Patrick Mele, and Xavier Donnelly back to school with a photo of the same college dorm room—then asked each of them to create a new design for it in their particular style, however they pleased. I think I would wake up screaming in Xavier's design. I didn't live in a dorm in college, but I did in the Air Force and I would have loved either Laura's or Patrick's design. And since you lived in those rooms longer and the rooms were a little larger and was only for one person, I could have easily did both of these designs and would have won dorm room of the month every month hands down.

Xavier's approach is not it…
I really liked Laura's design overall, yet I also liked Xavier's thought that roomies are not always going to agree on decor. I thought that Laura's design was calming. I really loved Patrick's map, but I would as a geographer. I am disappointed that none of them did anything about storage or a food station (fridge & microwave).
People complain about designs not being “realistic” but this is the whole point! No clients, no budget! Loved Xavier’s!
Every design has it's beauty…But what about the cleaning? Tha amount of DUST!!! Stains!? I'll believe that the storage is in the wall we are not seeing, lol. And there was more light missing for the desks
I'm not a professional designer but I can say that that was a pain for my eyes. If I had to rank them Laura did the best. I liked tge placement of the furniture of Patric but not the decoration. I have no words for Xavier.
I prefer Mele layout
there is no poimt to change the furniture……. they r drcoratimg a room for 2 with a huge buget not very hard
These students can afford to make over their room to this extent, and yet they apparently have no clothes or other possessions?

Waking up to metal foil walls would make me questioning my life choices and dropping out,no matter which bed I’m sleeping in
Xavier was obviously inspired by Wednesday and it was quite funny to me that he was explaining how that thing ended up there liked that 😂 love his playful smile and the twinkle in his eyes ❤ But Laura's dorm has to be my favourite and them relating to their dorms at the round table is so pure 😭
there were distinct moments where I felt Xavier & Patrick completely lost the plot unfortunately
All three designs are so beautiful and inspiring!
The goal was to be practical yet fun. Laura's was boringly practical, Patrick's was fun, maybe even too much, and Xavier's was imaginative yet practical, loved the map wallpaper, placement of the desk, living room type of layout ❤

Team Patrick on this one. Peaceful yet alive with a pop of color on the daybeds. The map gives flight to the imagination. Well done.

I think Xavier is looking to start world war 3……..and putting a fella and a girl in one room?
I like the map wall and the long desk near the window, otherwise you have your backs to each other. I don't like the decoration of the sleeping area.

I actually think Patrick’s is the most practical storage wise and comfort wise (sitting & sleeping) it’s just not that aesthetically pleasing to have that map wall paper that kind of puts students in a box to what they can do with their walls. I wanted to pick Lauren’s because it’s so pretty and had a nice set up but there’s no storage capacity and that bed doesn’t look comfortable and neither do the chairs 😭
Xavier's been watching too much LOTR and listening a lot to the White Stripes.
My ranking
1st. Laura – love everything
2nd. Patrick – nice design but a bit juvenile
3rd. Xavier – great concept but very stuffy
I loved Laura's and Patrick's designs!
Laura's was maybe too mature for college students. She really made great diy choices that apply to temporary housing rules. Also what's her accent? specifically when it comes to the letter 'A' in words like plants, lamps, and bland?
Patrick's room had ship cabin vibes to me, anyone else feel that way? His seemed the most academic but maybe more middle school level vs college level.
Xavier's ideas were definitely creative and fun, I just think the fabrics, patterns, and color schemes were tragically ugly. It is the most realistic though, in the sense that two students would have differing aesthetics vs decorating the whole room the same way.
I would watch that enemies to lovers movie about the roommates
None of these are doable, no matter what your "budget", in a college dorm room setting. I get there are no "restrictions" in this design series but in this situation there are limitations that need to be acknowledged.
Interesting solutions – but, where do they put their clothes? And they are students, only one of the designers allowed for bookshelves.
