While I love the Disneyland mermaids, that last fact always makes me sad 🥺 Women were paid less than men at the studio at that time because they figured women either shared their husband’s income already, or were divorced and received alimony, or were single and didn’t have a family to support.
The original idea of the submarine ride came first from a concept by Richard Irvine for a glass bottom boat ride over a picturesque lagoon that was similar to the tourist boats in Catalina Island. Walt Disney saw the proposal and said, “No, let’s do a real submarine ride. Let’s take them down and give them ports to look out of. Give them a real show.“ The submarine voyage that opened in 1959 was inspired by the United States Navy’s participation in the exploration of the Antarctic for the international geophysical year in 1957-58. The Navy wanted to sponsor the attraction, but Walt said no because he didn’t want to become involved with any government bureaucracy, so instead, the attraction was sponsored by General Dynamics, which was still closely associated with America’s nuclear submarines. Each vessel in the original fleet was named after a US nuclear powered submarine.

When I was young, I watched footage of the mermaids at Disneyland and that’s what I wanted to be, until my mother told me that they had stopped doing that a while ago😂
Is it bad that I want to recut up the '59 source audio to try and match it to the current version so I can recapture some of what was lost?
What about when the world industries skate team went to DL and one guy jumped into the water from the 2nd floor cue

Anytime I went to Disney world and Disney land both sub rides were not operating they were broken
