  1. We have 400 years to catch up to San-Ti. So expect a lot of preparation and technological advancements. We're gonna have starships, space lasers, you name it, we're going FULL SPEED AHEAD. Nothing quite like illegal aliens coming to take our home to get humans united to focus on SCIENCE.

  4. Jin was wrong about Auggie. She wasn't drinking herself to sleep. She was drinking herself to death. Wills pep talk woke her up from her death spiral. Obviously she is far from ok, but at least she's no longer suicidal.

  5. The nanofibers Auggie developed are critical to building solar sails (radiation sails in this case) as they would be the only thing light enough to make the sail. Such a sail is very large. I have seen proposals that are kilometers wide. Solar sails to do interstellar travel has been proposed since thw 1960's so this isn't a new idea, we just don't have the tech to do it yet.

    There are kore yses for the Nanofibers to but I have been told those are discussed later in the series so I won't say them now so as not to spoil.
