23 Guinea Pigs Surrendered In Unexpected Surprise

Yes and then this happened yesterday. This happens more than you guys know as i don’t always capture these types of surrenders on video. (I should) It seems that every month there is a large group that we either invited to surrender or folks just show up at the gate like this family.
They were lucky that we had some space and thankfully this group is not breeding anymore. This video will give you an idea of what those surrenders looks like and that we NEVER know what to expect when we start work in the morning. Donations are much needed https://www.laguineapigrescue.com/donate.html

  1. Omg 😢, how many where pregnant after they said they had been separated? I saw one that looked curvy.

How do they think it's OK to pile them up in plastic like that! 😠

And they knew it was a boy and girl but it kept happening…. hmmm very sus.

  2. You kept your cool extremely well but if someone dumped that many on me, I'd just be overwhelmed and emotionally not okay. I hope you're hanging in there. You and your team are strong, wonderful people. My thoughts are with you.

  3. It’s been a long time since I had any piggies… but is it not safe/practical to spay or neuter them? I feel like I used to hear about vets doing it, but is it a bad idea with Guinea pigs?

  4. This is so sad but I'm so thankful to you and your team for helping save these precious babies. I hope someday be like you and start a guinea pig rescue in my state. You're such an inspiration to me and so many other people. But most of all, you're a life saver for so many beautiful piggies.

  5. I do hope that nobody is passing judgment on this family. One of the most frequent questions I get when answering the rescue phone and emails is if guinea pigs are routinely spayed and neutered like dogs and cats are. Many people assume that they are, because they are domestic pets. Many people purchasing them at swap meets or irresponsible pet shops will assume that if they are selling you a boy and a girl, that one or both of them are fixed. The pet trade industry is incredibly predatory, and it preys upon people who are not educated in the care of the animal. The family did specifically say in the video that they were not intending to breed. I don’t think that they understood that was going to happen. Education about the animals and their well-being is on the pet store and/or the breeder. The problem is, they will sell fewer and fewer animals if their clientele is educated.

This is why our YouTube channel exists; this is why the rescue exists—to educate people who don’t have other options for education, and to bring light to the unethical breeders that sell these animals.

All of these piggies are now safe at the rescue, and as soon as their pregnancy watch is over, they will be adopted out to loving families.

  6. I can relate. Our rescue was notified of 20 pigs living in a small pet store cage. I had 9 of the females temporarily til they could get to main foster house since all are pregnant. One delivered 3 babies as soon as she got to maim foster home.

  8. Just made a donation through your website! I love your channel and everything that you do. Sometimes, I can barely bring myself to watch your channel because it breaks my freaking heart to see the conditions the pigs are brought to you in. 💔

I literally almost cried hearing their little wheeks while they're in a freaking storage container on top of one another IN SUMMER TIME. You always handle it with so much grace, it welcomes people to do the right thing.

I will be sending you items through your amazon registry too. I only wish I could drop ship you so many veggies from FL.

  9. As a child I got 2 "female" pigs from a pet store. Of course one turned out to be a male and we got babies ASAP without wanting. We neutered the male and a male relative of mine cracked jokes and made me a bad concience for "castrating that poor guy". I felt like I'm an evil person.
