2024 Can Am Outlander 1000R XT P Test Review

2024 Can Am Outlander 1000R XT P Test Review. If you asked all of the riders which big-bore 4×4 ATV they would actually want to own, the 2024 Can-Am Outlander 1000R XT-P would be the choice of most. The reasons are simple: it offers more mud protection than a Renegade, full utility capability for working or adventuring, and unquestionably more performance than any other 1000cc sport utility ATV on the market in its class, as proven in our inaugural 1000cc 4×4 Sport Utility ATV Shootout.

The 2023 model year brought with it the addition of Can-Am’s Intelligent engine braking, new front end styling, along with dual LED front headlights. Unchanged for 2024, other than the color change to Hyper Silver & Neo Yellow, we felt it was time we reevaluated one of our favorite ATVs on the market to see how the machine has changed with its numerous updates.

  1. Wish I could’ve gotten my hands on an XTP when I got my 1000R XT !
Amazing machine . Could use a little better fit and finish for the cost and a little to much drivetrain noise especially the whine from the rear end , but those are minor things . She’s a smooth riding rocket !

  2. Nice to see the Kimball ATV hideaway at the end when you showed the XXC. My buddies and I rent that place 2 times a year for the last 3-4 years. Amazing Trail access to Hatfield McCoy and outlaws from there.

  3. Curious, why do you prefer steel racks?
The universal response I typically get is unlimited tie down points.
The reason I hate steel racks, they pack a good flat surface and thus in my experience, when your gas can flies off is not a matter of if, but when. Because with the lack of a flat surface, eventually wiggles enough for the tie down to slip
The other reason, when I switch between yard work, hunting, and trail storage. Removing ubolts in steel racks is a test of ones patience.

  4. While this model has fix shocks that likely allow bushing replacement. My biggest Can-Am gripe is the standard shocks, you have to replace the whole shock when bushings wear out. Why can't they have an $8 replacement bushing???

  5. I will say this Can Am makes a great machine with a lot of power but to me it is not even close to being worth the money. Can Am like almost all other brands even Honda made it very hard for the average person to buy one. Because of this i gave up on them a while back. I gave CFMOTO a shot because of the price and the reviews have been good. I have had really good luck with mine and will hopefully get their new sport 4 SxS soon. The dealer i got mine from also sells Can Am and Honda. They sell about 5 CFMOTOs to every 1 of the other brands. Like i said Can Am makes a great machine but there is no way i could justify that insane price tag.

  6. Even if it’s small improvements it’s good to see manufacturers updating the ATV lines. Even if it is just enough to get videos made to keep them in front of buyers. I sure it’s getting hard to make videos of the same ol’ same ol’.

  7. Can confirm that the ITP terracross can be ran when flat, got a tear in a front tire and was about 20kms away from home, it did not damage my shiny new 14” can am XT wheels on the way back home and I didn’t necessarily take it easy either lol. Love my outlander 650 and will keep it forever but the XTP 850/1000 is my dream quad so my wife will get my tried and true 650 beast. 😂
