The 2023 NAS Oceana Air Show did not end with a final salute to the US Navy Blue Angels on the tarmac. It continued a few hours later just up the coast at 31st Park in Virginia Beach.
Just before dark the US Navy Leap Frogs Team departed their jump aircraft. Descending from the sky directly overhead of the onlooking crowd they made their way onto the sands of the beach in front of the King Neptune statue and the park.
Shortly after while a crowd had assembled on the beach and adjacent boardwalk, 2 F/A-18 super hornets from the Rhino Demonstration Team made some passes over head just beyond the shore line! The speed was unbelievable and the clear sky made for great viewing of the jets.
The fun did not end there! As darkness finally set in the US Navy Blue Angels made their appearance on stage with the rest of the support team.
To close out the night the “The Finest of the Fleet,” The US Fleet Forces Band (USFF) entertained the crowd! Established in 1945, the USFF Band, serves as the musical ambassador for Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, in Norfolk, Virginia.
