Had this done on my 13 this month. Went bad in June. Called ford for the oem parts, they said backoredered 2months, so I got the Dorman one. When I looked up the torque sequence for the valve body, I saw that mine was still under the extended warranty from the recall. Took it in, diagnosed and confirmed it was was covered, but could take up to 2 months for them to do it. Thankfully they agreed that I could put in the Dorman and they would still put in the oem when the part came in so i could still have a working vehicle. Did it next day Took about 2 hours, not a bad install. They called 2 days later and said they got their hands on one early. 2 weeks later they did it.
Torque settings I used to do it on the length of the socket bar length or length of Spanner π§ ( Wrench ) for you guys. For how much Torque I was putting on. With years of Doing it like you say Rich. Have a Great Day. Steve Westmoreland π¨π»βπ¦³βΏοΈβΏοΈπ¬π§π οΈπ§π
thanks. good details on the cleaning and replacement of the filter. my 17 6r80 eventually will get this detailed service but its only at 4900 miles .thanks again!
Surprised that you got so much fluid out without flushing out Torque Converter. On my car ZF 6 Speed when the Pan and filter is removed and new ATF put in, only 3.5 Litres goes back in the pan. Then the mechanic starts the car and puts in another 500 millilitres then takes car for drive and then opens Fill Hole and no more goes in. 4 Litres max ATF goes in pan. 8 litres of burned ATF in the Torque Converter which the Garage doesn't want to flush out. Around 12 Litres of ATF in Pan and Torque Converter and only 4 litres goes back in.
169 days of waiting for my #6r80#leadframe. No updates unless I bug the dealer and still no ETA. I can't find a reputable shop that will install dorman electronics.
I recommend one of these a while back on a 14 F150. Couldnβt get one and it took months before the customer said βF itβ and we replaced the valve body instead.
Boy Rich I always have trouble with getting the new filter to stay up in place while putting the pan back on , I noticed yours stayed in place. Any tips on getting it to stay while installing the pan ? Thanks Rich !β¦β¦.
Got a question about after replacing the lead frame. We got the fluid topped off and after taking it for a test drive, 1-2 shift feels a bit clunky and 5-6 slips a bit. Did a trans reset and told the customer to drive it so the trans can adapt but was curious to see if anyone has encountered this issue.
Hey Rich instead of going through expensive microfiber towels may I suggest a roll of microfiber towels, they tear off like paper towels, I get them at Walmart in the automotive section, they are great for so many things, awesome video my brother ππ
This is part of what I miss about my 16 f150. DIY transmission maintenance is simple. Dorman makes a 6r80 pan with a drain plug to make fluid refreshes and pan drops much less messy. I had one on mine.
I used to rebuild Ford valve bodies back in the day. I could tear down and rebuild about 8 per day, depending on the complexity, anything from C-6 up to the 4R55E and even ran them through their paces on a valve body Dyno.
The yellow bridgeport seal should have been changed to the brown one (update). I believe every unit after the 2012/13 came with the brown one. The yellow seal is known to crack its a ford tsb. I did lots of them back in my transmission tech days. Great video as always Rich!!
Those reusable metal gaskets are way better than today modern chemical gasket in a tube ,or even worse a plastic pan& filter assembly, those are trash

Morning. Where can I get that service manual I see you looking at on the computer?
Isn't a dipstick someone who uses Dorman parts? ππππJust messing with you, Boss.

How lucky are people having you Rich. Explain and demostrate the fkn basics for an Auto transmission service.
If that was that was a training vid, it was the sh1t.π Even an apprentice whose a few eggs short of a dozen could follow that. Excellent. π
Good video Rich!

Makes me feel better about having to put a dorman lead frame in mine, couldnβt get one from ford when mine went either
I wonder if these Ford factory parts are back ordered from China. Dorman must have a better supply chain

Now I know I heard loud shop music in the background..

Hey Rich
The fact they send letters for extended coverage on these with NO parts readily available is ridiculous
