Damn I remember watching this as a kid. The nostalgia is real.
Seems like there are four camps with this. Those that loved it. Those that hated it. Those that watched it for the humor value. Those that bailed out after ten minutes (that's me).
Apart from, well, everything, I think they broke rule one of monster movies: don't reveal your monster right at the start. Aimed at a younger audience than I me I guess.

Good movie. Moby Dick is a great story.. 'But as far as I could see they neglegt to mention anywhere – neither at the beginning of the movie nor in the end credits – that it's based on Herman Melville's original novel from1851, of the same name.. I can't swear that I couldn't have missed it, but I don't think so.. – Aren't they supposed to? I mean if you make a movie adaptation off a book, then aren't you somehow obligated to give credit to that book?

Moby Dick is one of my favorite classics, the 1st movie was great and this adaptation had me nerding out. Actually really liked it and all the really clever plays on important parts from the book and original movie.
I guess now we all know now what an albino leviathan looks like…

Sorry but……This can't even be compared to the classic Moby Dick. This is run-of-the-mill bullshit, literally fantasy fiction slapped with worthless effects and a completely weak script and acting.
