200K SPECIAL – DOOM 3 (Veteran Difficulty)

H*ck yeah, 200k subscribers. Full game playthrough of Doom 3 in one sitting. Despite me memeing on this game a lot Iโ€™ve played and beaten this game a few times before both alone and co-op some years ago so it wontโ€™ be blind. Well, not including the darkness that is.

Iโ€™ll be using the dhewm3 source port because the BFG edition blows:

  1. I was part of the crowd that actually liked Doom 3 and was very interested in seeing you play it. Was kind of bummed to learn that you had no plans to ever play it, so that out-of-the-blue announcement 1 week ago caught me off guard.

Over-hated. That's exactly what this gem of a game is. Can't wait for 210k subs! I've played RoE, but not the Lost Levels and haven't ever seen the Lost Levels either.

  2. Loved this game. I remember playing it late at night in a completely dark and quiet room and it was the most intense gaming experience I ever had.
I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ve played a game that scared me more.

  3. I pray for the day we get a Doom 3 sequel. The blend of badassery and abject horror is unlike anything we've seen since (Dead Space comes close!). If you have VR, play the Doom 3 VR mod, it's just so good….

ID! Spin up a small team, remaster Doom3 and give it full VR support. Easy money! Release it on Halloween 2026!

  4. Doom 3 was magnificient game back in 2004. I loved to play it with headphones on in complete darkness. And still remember a caution note that came with the game, especially its last phrases: "But for those, who dare to challenge Doom 3 as it was intended: Lock your door. Turn off the lights. And turn up your sound."

  5. I bought this when it came out back in the day. It nearly melted my dad's PC, but he didn't care. He introduced me to Doom, and he wanted to play it just as much as I did :D.

  6. This is a pleasant surprise. Even better that you're playing the original 2004 version!

It's so weird to think this game is 20 years old – in my mind it's still one of those new/modern games that require a hefty hardware upgrade ๐Ÿ˜€

P.S. If you can play Doom 3, then how about Serious Sam 3 some day?

  7. Special place in my heart for Doom 3. Eternal is my favorite, but Doom 3 was special in its own way. To this day the lighting in a lot of scenes looks amazing. It was so atmospheric and spooky. All the weapons felt and sounded great. Gibbing zombies with the shotgun never gets old. They got a little gimmicky with following Half Life's gravity gun in the expansion, but it was still a good time, and that super shotgun was fantastic. Truly I'll never forget the look and levels of Doom 3, its so unique and well done.

Really my only gripes is it takes awhile to get your full arsenal and there could be a little more enemy encounters throughout the game. Once you go to Hell pacing gets way better.
