Well, big predators need big preys or at least A LOT of small ones. Most of big animals ate the preys of their era. When those big preys died out the big predators died too. It's hard to justify the existence of Megalodon today for a variety of reasons. Nothing is impossible but it's highly improbable.
Basking Sharks , Sleeper Sharks, etc do get quite large and maybe are being mistaken for Megs.
