The Edmonton Police Service confirmed that two police officers were killed while responding to a call early Thursday morning, calling it an βunthinkable and horrific tragedy.β
Chief Dale McFee told reporters on Thursday that 35-year-old Constable Travis Jordan and 30-year-old Constable Brett Ryan were responding to a family dispute at an apartment complex when they were fatally shot by a man.
The man is also deceased, believed to be from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Mayor Amarjeet Sohi called it a βvery difficult and sad dayβ as he expressed his condolences.
More details to come as the investigation is ongoing.

Theres bad and good in every group of people so judge someone individually and not as a whole. Prayers to the 2 fallen officers
We don't see such emotions, grievance, & sadness when Police murder civilians!
Mayor communist doing a bang up job π
Domestic disputes are the most dangerous
They can't drive up and than just walk into the building. Send in a camera, a robot or a trained dog or something.
Very sad to hear. My prayers are with the families at this difficult time. All officers around Canada are thought of at this time.
Same happened in Ontario after that cops don't attend for any call immedietly they said short of officers call to the Mayor.
Sad day β¦
Being presumptuous ,arrogant and not paying attention to one's surroundings not to mention letting your guard down cost these 2 officers they're lives.
I'm an American and my comment is protected by the The First Amendment..
To an absolute undisputed 100% unmitigated certainty
And if anyone wants to discuss this R/T I have no problem setting up a meeting
WAITS To come into your life

Words canβt express the heartbreak here π’
A 16 year old boy shot his mother and then 2 police officers and then shot himself π€¨ What happened? Seems mental health related but why are news networks calling it an ambush?? How was that an ambush π a 16 year old boy??!! Like someone make sense of this π΅βπ«

1013 – shots fired shots fired ..forever, we fight on.. cst Jordan, cst Ryan.. call out………… cst Jordan, cst Ryan.. call out………… cst Jordan, cst Ryan.. call out………… cst Jordan, cst Ryan.. will be forever remembered and carried by their brothers and sisters..
I don't understand why people would want to become an cop especially if your only goal is to protect drag queen story time
Rest in peace to those officers.
Another preventable tragedy. Prayers to all the family members.
These officers were young! This broke my heart.
This city is NOT the city I grew up in and it also saddens me that my children will NEVER know the freedom I had and the safety I felt while growing up here in Edmonton! It's truly sad times when you feel you have to drive your children everywhere for fear that they will never come home if you put them on a bus!
Drugs, gangs, random violence, homelessness, mental health…all problems that have gotten out of control in every major city in Canada. Small towns are no better. There was a time I wanted to move out of this city but now I know this bad seed has spread like a weed throughout Canada and there's just no escaping it! The ball was dropped on these problems YEARS ago and now we have a problem that our politicians (on all levels) are either too clueless or ignorant to get a handle on. Sorry but that is how I feel!
Prayers to the YOUNG officers, their family, friends and to all officers who are out there dealing with these problems day in and day out. God bless them!
Rest in pieces
Another reason for Jusin T to ban more sports.

2 honourable officers lives ended too quickly. May God welcome their sons in open arms.
My condolences to the officers families. It is heart breaking that they didn't even know that the guy was armed ππ
I hope the previous Harper Government who lifted the strict gun registration laws we had in Canada and celebrated their "accomplishment" with a cocktail party afterwards are proud of themselves now!..They are the REAL murderers of these officers and should be held directly accountable for it!
Was the firearm used a handgun and if so was it registered or illegally owned.
