It’s problem that’ll never truly go away. People were street racing in the early 1900s. Lol.
What seems to be working in California (Stockton) is impounding all the cars there. The participants and the onlookers. They are evidence of a crime and not being returned. Take their cars they put all of their time and money into. That's all they care about.
Why is it that the same model car as the red one in this accident are involved in so many high speed police pursuits, and other crimes?
Enforcement and threats of punishment should only be seen as a tool but not the ultimate solution. Because it will not work long term.
The long-term solution would be to calm these streets that are very wide and very straight. ( Examples would be narrowing the road, adding speed bumps, adding roundabouts, etc. making sure that the calming methods still make it possible for freight to travel. )
Testosterone is a hell of a drug and it doesnt listen to reason.
The way to stop street races at there common places is just close off the roads at a certain time they usually start gathering and only have it opened for local delivery drivers.
Blocking both exits is also another idea but that means you need a bunch of backup for arrests and tickets also tow trucks
