(1988)The Cat Who…#6;The Cat Who Played Post Office;by Lilian Jackson Braun;read by George Guidall

Jim Qwilleran has acquired a large mansion, from Aunt Fanny, and of course a mystery. Iris Cobb joins him in Pickax as the mansion’s caretaker, along with Koko and Yum Yum.
Jim Qwilleran and his cats, Koko and Yum Yum, are living the high life—until things take a deadly turn…
Inheriting unexpected millions has left reporter Jim Qwilleran looking like the cat who swallowed the canary. While his two Siamese cats, Koko and Yum Yum, adjust to being fat cats in an enormous mansion, Qwill samples the lifestyles of the rich and famous by hiring a staff of eccentric servants. A missing housemaid and a shocking murder soon show Qwilleran the unsavory side of the upper crust. But it’s Koko’s purr-fect propensity for finding clues amid the caviar and champagne that gives Qwill pause to evaluate the most unlikely suspects—before his taste for the good life turns into his last meal…

  2. I am fighting my addiction… But unlike Qwill's strong minded cold turkey – and sticking to it.

  3. I had a seizure once and woke up in the hospital. Couldn't remember my name or anything for awhile. I finally remembered my roommate's name. What a relief! It's like this no-man's land of emptiness and fog. And you strain and flounder around in your mind, trying to grab something to hold onto. I feel you Qwill.

  4. Great fun! Makes me want to buy 2 MORE Siamese cats but my "babies" wouldn't approve nor would my Jack terrier. KoKo is such a charismatic charmer! In most murder mysteries the reader wants the grim details surrounding the crime and to see the culprit caught- but in these delightful, if far fetched escapist "daydreams" novels, the cats are the STARS, the details of the 4 legged detectives are what hooked me. This is only my 2nd cosy mystery, not my sort of literature BUT, TO MY SURPRISE I AM THOROUGHLY ENJOYING THEM, AND RELAXING TOO. I am a lover of snow and all things winter and I find both the location and characters, the 2 legged ones too, are an interesting assortment of eccentrics. I recommend this series to anyone in need of a "light" read with humour and charm and oh yes, a corpse! I haven't ventured into contemporary cosy mysteries but I will. Pixie is a very lucky young woman. I'd have loved such a grandma- a lover of literature and a role model who really cherishes me. Thank you ladies for uploading these charming who done its. Ee-ow, nik, nik…Namaste from Canada.

  5. I just recieved an E-mail response from Mr. Guidall ( 30 minutes after I wrote him) and I would like to inform all his fans that he is not just a superb narrator (and winner of the Audie award), he is also a genuinely nice person, very punctual, and he CARES ABOUT HIS FANS. For obvious reasons, I will not post his E-mail address here, but wanted to inform you folks that he reads and appreciates the fan mail that he recieves. Look him up, and send him your love❤

  6. After listening to several of this series I wonder if there’s so much covered up crime in these places that Quill’s solving one murder at a time barely scratches the surface of many more unsolved mysteries because nobody seems to put 2 and 2 together despite some characters having suspicions .
