Speculatively dealing with the impact of technological advancement or future societal and environmental change is what makes science fiction such an imaginative genre. Sci-fi – as a backdrop – is used countless times in video games, with shooters arguably dominating sci-fi’s influence across the medium, with Halo, Half-Life, and Mass Effect – for example – regarded as some of the best video games ever created.

There’s no shortage of sci-fi shooters available now and upcoming, the chance to wield technologically fantastical weaponry throughout well-realised glimpses of future civilisation is too evocative to resist for game developers and players alike. 1. Western AAA developers are only capable of making games for women. Eastern developers are capable of making games for men, but they are often shallow and incoherent. With the upcoming release of Path of Exile 2, I’m pretty content just focusing on that, Elden Ring, Remnant, and maybe V Rising for the next few years until enough of these developers go bankrupt and new ones begin releasing good games.

  2. Considering the current woke state of Bioware, Mass Effect 5 will be a dumpster fire too. I'm looking forward to "Exodus", made by ex-Bioware devs, who made the Mass Effect trilogy.

  3. As someone who doesn't like pvp at all and was full of big hopes for Arc Raiders since its first trailer, i still am sad at every mention of it, after its shift to pvevp. Nonetheless, there's a lot of beautiful games coming.
