Dragons have appeared in numerous fantasy stories, fairytales and in most mythologies.

But not all Dragons are the same and look the same, and of course their temper and abilities differ from myth to myth.

So I decided to find the main types of dragons found in myths and fairytales from all over the world. I found 14 different types of Dragons:

– The Typical Western Dragon
– Dragonnet
– The Chinese Dragon
– Shen
– The African Dragon
– Wyvern
– Lindworm
– Amphiptere
– Hydra
– Tarasque
– Zmei
– The Bakunawa
– Wyrms
– Chaos Dragons (Leviathan, Jörmungandr, Apophis (Apep) ).

  12. When I was a little girl, I was obsessed with dragons and even wanted to have one as a pet!😅
    I don’t have that wish anymore, but this video has got me thinking which one of these dragon types I could keep as a pet in my fantasy…🤔

    P.S: I had no idea that the hydra was a dragon until I watched this video

  15. In my country of South Africa, we have an old Khoi-San folktale about the Grootslang, a Wyrm-like creature with the body of a massive snake and the head of an elephant with six tusks that was said to be cast into a deep cave within Richtersveld.

    Zulu lore say that when the world was formed, God created the Grootslang by mixing the serpent and the elephant, two of the smartest and most cunning animals to ever exist. The problem, however, was that the Grootslang and their ilk became too powerful and conniving, causing God to kill them all in effort to prevent the extinction of the world. The legend is that there are still a few that survived and fled from the eyes of the world, the most popular one living within the deep caves of Richtersveld.

    There's also the Inkanyamba, another Wyrm or Lindworm from Xhosa and Zulu mythos, which lives in Howick Falls, Pietermaritzburg. Folklore calls it a large cryptid with the body of a serpent and the head of a horse. They say that the Inkanyamba can fly into the sky during Summer months and causes great tornadoes in the sky all in an effort to find a mate.

  20. I think it would be cool to see dragons that are insects instead of reptiles. So we could get giant butterfly-dragons.

    But not sure if they would still be within the definition of dragon then.
    What would it mean to be a dragon if they are not required to be reptiles?

I know this video came out along time ago, but there’s two things I noticed your first thing in the world serpent is mostly describe to be a serpent not a dragon it’s not very clarified, but he breathed out, venom not fire. And second is leviathan both forms of leviathan. I’m not a dragon and yes, there’s two leviathans in the Bible. You can get this because one’s described to be a serpent and the other ones describe to be a whale the whale was frozen in the south Arctic, because it was too powerful while the serpent guards, the gates of hell in the ocean this one is described have multiple heads. It is also leviathan the sin of envy. But there is a chaos dragon it is Satan not Lucifer. They are not the same person anyways Satan is describe to have seven heads with a crown on each head and will be the one to bring the apocalypse. He was also most likely the first creature to be born. And he is described to be a dragon. He breeze fire, and is the sin of wrath.
