  6. One of my professors at university told us this story about meeting Larry Page at Stanford and being offered a job at Google and quite a lot of stock in their startup. My professor politely declined, citing something along the fact of "oh I have tenure at Stanford, why would I do that?"

    He told us this story to highlight that just because he was our teacher didn't mean he would always know more and that if we thought we had an idea that was worth perusing, we should go for it no matter what his opinion on it was.

  12. I can’t believe how much that iPad add “offended” people. That reaction to that ad is a metaphor for just how soft people have gotten. Pretty sad really. It’s like the early days of tech teardown videos when people would bitch about a how a person could destroy expensive tech when they could just as easily give it to someone that needed it. I hate to use the word but snowflake fits it so well.

  27. I actually worked for a factory where the Fisker was produced. They hired hundreds of workers to keep up with their demand. Normally, we should have produced over 500 cars of the model Ocean. But at best, we only made about 50 cars a day. Well, four months into my new job, I got the message that they were going to fire me because they were going to reduce the worktime from three shifts to two shifts. I was one of the first people to get fired (500 workers). A few months later, they fired about 1000 other workers because some other car models stopped being produced.

  34. Ashley Madison isn't really a 'dating site', it's a scam farm. Somewhere in the vicinity of about 90 to 95 percent of its 'female' users are actually just coded bots, farming gullible stupid morally dubious married men for money. But yeah, it was still a massively stupid fail for them not to secure their user database.

  39. Yahoo failed to buy Google TWICE. Now Google is the biggest search engine for outright lies and misinformation on the planet. Great work Yahoo, you COULD have been a contender. Now all we have is a Google search engine that really IS NOT fit for purpose.
