"Near Dark" is a very unusual film about vampires, although the word "vampire" is never used in it. And vampires here are very far from standard image of Dracula or Nosferatu: neither garlic, nor holy water, nor crosses, nor an aspen stake act on them, they do not sleep in coffins and do not turn into bats, and in general they are completely devoid of gothic style and presented more like night bandits. The only thing they have is a thirst for blood and fear of sunlight. The most remarkable aspect of the movie is that vampirism is interpreted here as a metaphor for drug addiction and bad company, from which you can recover. The only question is what price you will have to pay? This is quite an interesting project in which Kathryn Bigelow is experimenting with genres: so the film perfectly combines melodrama, horror, and western, accompanied by dark atmosphere and noir aesthetics.
Great list. Bone Tomahawk and Burrows were disturbing pleasures. The Tremors series was guilty pleasures. I'd add Diablo with Scott Eastwood to the list. Maybe not so well rated, but Clint's son performed the part well.
Near dark rules
Nice one bro
Cool
The Western genre has that it-factor which allows any type of story to be told. I love it
I feel like bone tomahawk coulda been so much better but still very good
4:34 Donner Pass is still haunted to this day!!
From dusk till dawn

Bone tomahawk is very good horror western.
Tremors rules.
apparently there are different definitions of horror and western.
I love cowboy movies ๐
You forgot Sundown: The Vampire In Retreat.
you missed From dusk till dawn hangman's daughter.
The burrowers really caught me off guard by how much better it was than i expected. But yeah, Bone Tomahawk is one here that id most recommend.

Near Dark is my fav vampire movie. Paxton was great. "I hate it when they ain't been shaved"
Traumatised me: …starting off strong arn't we…
Great list, good mix of new and old – and interesting to see movies here i've never come across! Think i'll watch Bone Tomahawk next…
Please do more horror movie lists as they always give new ideas and remind me of fantastic films, like John Carpenter's Vampires.
What about Exit Hummanity & Grey Knight? Also bonus points is S4E8 โShowdownโ of Tales from the Crypt.
Priest (2011) would make a good addition to this list. Although it takes place in the future it has a western ascetic.
There was 7 Tremor films, but only seen two.
Burt Gummer was the standout actor for me, his dark humour was fantastic and his obsession with weapons made you wonder what new "toy" he had.
Not sure if the other 5 are worth watching.
Westerns are time period movies some of these just take place in desert like areas.
