18 December 2022 | Matthew finishes his presentation of Jesus’ birth and infancy with a connection back to the suffering and hardship that was found in Rachel during her time of great mourning in Ramah from Jeremiah 31:15. This was a particularly difficult time in Israel’s history, and Old Testament prophetic tradition always pointed forward to the coming of a Messiah who would set those in suffering free.
