► More than 100,000 Royal Mail workers have gone on strike after a row over pay.

It is the first of a four-day strike with further industrial action planned for 31 August as well as 8 and 9 September. They’re demanding a rise that comes a little closer to the current rate of inflation.

  1. Why does the MSM always seem to emphasise the sad small business owners who are so upset that their parcels will be a bit late?
What about the many thousands of workers who are having their rights and working conditions stripped just so that the rich at the top can make more money?!

  2. Soooo if your losing a million pound a day why give £400 million to share holders why pay yourself £1 million and the other 2 at the top £1 million each after bonuses then give a real terms pay cut of 16%, with inflation set at 18% this year. Eerrrrhhh no thanks mr meg rich Thompson.

  3. Another militant group the conservatives have to deal with, I hope that all unions get to gather and go on a country wide strike. The conservatives must realise there days are numbered go wolfie

  4. Simon Thompson is an absolute liar .. we are not losing a million pounds a day and he is spinning the truth
The actual truth is instead of making for example 35 million profit , royal mail are making 34 million , 1 million less profit.
Not a loss , any talk of a loss is absolute rubbish.

  5. I understand and support the protest and all… but God damn I'm expecting 3 parcels (for medical purposes) and they are all gonna be delayed for weeks because of this! They already took a long time to arrive in the UK due to being shipped from overseas in the USA. Had little choice but to use Royal Mail otherwise I always go for DPD, they've always been reliable and deliver on schedule.

  6. From placing my order, it's taken 5 days for an order of mine to arrive into the UK from Australia. 10 days later, and Im still waiting for royal mail to deliver my parcel to my home. Next time, I will pay extra to use couriers

  7. Not about the pay imo or increase as much it’s about the hiring of staff people just seem to be leaving and not being replaced and then the brunt of that round has to be split up between the postworkers I’ve never been in poverty and I live on my own the pay is good sorry I don’t agree with that I think it’s about what I said previous

  8. Another bunch of jumped up workers. Let's face the facts all they do is post letters and parcels, isnt skilled, and cleaners do a harder days work than most. These people are just militants of the past. If your job doesn't pay enough go elsewhere. But you have no skills to offer other employees so you try and bully people. Shameful bunch of losers, similar to the bin men,

  9. There are also many examples of ridiculous management, and senior decisions that cost huge amounts of money that could be used to fund a decent pay rise. 1 example is at Cambridge 4
bikes with vans attached arrived, as soon as posties saw them they knew they would not work.
4 senior employees turned up and had some publicity photos, stayed a night in a hotel. (not a cheap one) Came to the depot spoke to a couple of prepared stooges and announced this is the future.
After a few trials, they were discarded and now sit rotting in Cambridge car park. Total cost well in excess of 50k.

  10. Ok postman pat, pay up you schmuck..… gave shareholders over 400 mil for doing nothing but sit on there bums and click a button to buy stocks yet the men and women who day in and day out work there buts off to deliver parcels all over the country get nothing as inflation rises…….

  11. How about earning a higher wage instead of doing the bare minimum and expecting more. If you wasn't lazy, you'd have desirable skills to offer other industries. Feckless losers. Behavior like this ensures an investment into automating you plebs.

  12. All well and good, strike but do your jobs at the same time or you know, FIND A DIFFERENT JOB WITH BETTER PAY, parasites. Expecting parcels worth over £500 each and they're no where to be seen, sent on the 26th..

  13. The guys at the top literally want the kind of Chinese slave labour environment Truss was admiring a while back.

It's kind of amazing that the big boys are ALWAYS raking it in while the people on the ground floor are constantly getting screwed over. It's just the same old same old. .

It's likes that guy who fought against the government energy price cap. Now he's apparently getting a 45% pay rise..

  14. Most disgusting staff in the UK. They should have their wages cut, their vans removed, and deliver on foot under the rain. You strike for money you dont deserve and my medical parcel has not arrived, so far delayed for 1 week! Fire them all!

  15. Strike action like this should be illegal and totally banned!! All this does is inconvenience and insult the very people that actually pay the wages THE PUBLIC!!" Definitely no support from me! All of us would like more money, but we don't take it out on each other!! More pay for nurses, pensioners the disabled the sick the homeless. These people should count themselves lucky to have a full time and secure job!! Personally I would sack the lot of them and then offer them their jobs back as SELF EMPLOYED you work you get paid , you stop or don't work you get nothing!!
