When Atlantis: The Lost Empire first came out in 2001, the reaction from both audiences and critics was lukewarm at best for some reason, this movie was dope, everyone in 2001 is an idiot. Because of this, we’ve never really taken a deeper dive into this movie before, but that changes, today. I’m Jacob with Channel Frederator and these are 107 facts you should know about Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Except it’s not really an empire since an empire would imply they control multiple nations and like, they have a King not an emperor-WHATEVER that wasn’t one of the facts…

  1. The box office might be a loss not a $60m gain due to marketing costs being so high. You can safely assume if it cost $100m to make, it probably costs just as much to market. I don’t work in film but do work in product development and marketing expense are often more than development costs.

  2. I feel like there was a lot of lore built into this movie that never got fully explored and it's a shame they never built off of that. Truly one of the best. The cinematography and soundtrack really make this feel like an epic quest with a grand scale to it

  3. I LOVE THIS FILM WITH MY WHOLE HEART! My mother named me after Cree Summer who was a huge part of my childhood. I started to receive my Atlantis half sleeve in late 2019 early 2020. I still sing "where the dream takes you" in the shower. I can only hope that Disney considers making a live action film for this masterpiece, but I don't have high hopes for who they would cast to play the roles. They've been kinda flubbing it lately

  4. I think World War One was still happening or going to happy in the movie's universe as Milo mentions with disdain the possibility of Rourke selling the technology of Atlantis to the Kaiser.

  5. I’m glad you brought up kida was technically the first Disney Princess to Queen. Elsa is always credited because her movie was a block buster hit. And yes I’m sure the money is what is a decides who is a Disney Princess and who isn’t. Mulan is a Disney Princess, but some could argue Mulan represents a race and people while kida’s race is completely fictional.

I always took ms packers smoking as a signal it was more adult orientation movie. She would probably would be censored or cut out completely because of her smoking and more darker humor (she sleeps in the nude)

  6. #0 Lost empire because per the myth Atlantis Was an empire. WAS
and then it sank beneath the waves, consequently LOST empire.
Lack of logic from the outset… 107 dalmatians better not be dogs too.

  7. honestly this movie should be pushed by Disney more nowadays as its definitely much more appreciated now and even today's audience would probably be much more open to this concept, they could re-release it, make a video-game, merch, a ride would be fantastic cause who wouldnt want to experience something like this its an amazing adventure, even a live-action version would probably make sense with this one considering how different it is compared to other Disney products, this one could actually work
