10 Unbelievable Plans of Genetic Engineering

We’ve all eaten GMO food, but have you seen a digital bitcoin key translated into a genetic ATGC sequence written into the DNA of a mouse? Didn’t think so.

  1. The golden rice you mentioned had been widely accepted in the poorer places in the world. Such as Bangladesh, India, and places in Africa. It's saved millions of lives already.

  2. You messed up a fact, fact boy!
Kids can drink in the US, they just can't buy alcohol.
The Amish grab their kids beer for rumspringa, and the Catholics pass the wine after first communion, so it's a subtle but very intentional distinction.

  3. 0:39 into this as I type, and will see if Simon covers the REAL reason of why most people object to genetic engineering. I live in a rural farming area now and the majority of the farmers refuse to handle genetically engineered products due solely to the huge and constantly rising cost of them. This is because big corporation create or buy control of the Genetically Engineered Crop and then charge excessively high prices for them while ensuring that the farmers can't keep back seed and use that for next year's crop, so they have to pay again, and again year after year. This is a ruinous financial model to run a farm on for any farm that is not forty or more square miles in size. If the scientists create an improved genetic crop then place that new seed in the Public Domain so no big corp can corner the market on its use, then you'd see a huge upswing in the use of the genetic modified products.
