  1. I saw the thumbnail and then the title, and I thought, β€œThat’s not Halo CE. That’s the only good Halo game. Wtf is this video about?” That’s it. I’m about to watch it, but I feel that it’s important for everyone to know that the only good Halo game is the first one. At least campaign mode wise.

  2. For me it was diving after Zelda at the END of TotK. It was such an incredible full circle moment going all the way back to the prologue, the surprise of Nintendo handing the control BACK to you so you can get that satisfaction YOURSELF, all combined with the MUSIC that plays through the whole sequence? I was in tears, no pun intended. What an incredible ending.

  3. Maybe its just cause I'm an older gamer now at 31 years old but I could imagine TONS of other game moments where I thought it couldn't get any better. Final Fantasy as a series deserves a honorable mention. There was a good long period where every new mainline release would make you go "This can't get any better" just for you to be proven wrong over and over again. The intros alone for FF7 to FF10 were chefs kiss I can understand from a gameplay standpoint it won't make everybody feel that way but from a cinematic standpoint the franchise is and always has been on an other level. I would argue that some entries also have some of the greatest storytelling and character/world building in gaming.

  4. See, I personally don't think snake killed the boss. The game is a simulation and doing certain things causes a game over, a time paradox, etc. If snake officially had to kill her, then you do so in game. But unofficially, what if she lived her death was accepted since snake returns, gets to become the new big boss snake and the world keeps spinning. She can retire, do whatever, right? The world none-the-wiser.

  5. Some of my personal favorite moments in gaming:

Doom Eternal: Opening Sequence. Hearing the people of Earth screaming for help over comms while the Slayer watches on with zero empathy. The music building as he calmly readies his gear and the portal opens. It's pure cinematic build up as he pumps the shotgun and walks through the portal.

Homeworld: watching Kharak burning as your mothership sits in orbit, attempting to rescue the last few thousand survivors of your planet. It was that one moment that made homeworld great.

Final Fantasy 6: Kefka wins. Half way through the game, the big bad, actually accomplishing his goal, bringing the world to ruin.

Witcher 3 Blood and Wine: The ending, after the ceremony. I played the expansion after having cleared the main game. That ending moment sitting quietly at a campfire with Regis waiting for the dawn, reminiscing and speaking of plans for the future. The final line of "After all that toil, I feel that we deserve a bit of a rest". It was a moment of finality for me, that the story really was complete.

World of Warcraft: Back almost 20 years ago (I'm old, sue me), doing 40man raids and spawning Ragnaros in Molten Core for the first time (and dying shortly thereafter). That was a memory.

CoD 4: Modern Warfare. When the nuke goes off and your helicopter goes down. That moment of your character crawling out of the wreckage, staggering around the decimated city before finally dying and a real shock moment.

Black Myth Wukong: The intro. What a way to start a game.

Mass Effect 2: The suicide mission. In one of the few moments where your choices and prep throughout the game actually matter, that suicide mission. From the driving music, each part of the mission playing out differently depending on what you'd done in preparation for it. It was the moment the entire game was building to. Shame about the final boss which came afterward.

Bioshock: The "Would you kindly" reveal. Enough said there.

And as a final mention for my 80's self: FarCry Blood Dragon: Riding the battle dragon. The ridiculous dialogue, the over the top action, the pure 80's synth and one liners. It was as awesome piece of nostalgia for me.
